I've always been with the band kind of stick, it's just how I am. However, there are some that I do enjoy their solo work, mainly because either one) they're writing their own material, or two) they improved in a different way of writing their own material and almost makes me like them better then their original band.

I prefer a band over solo work. I'm really into the talent aspect of a band. How well they are at there instruments and songwritting. I also like good solo artists to and am really impressed when they don't have any studio musicians and produce all of there work.

I tend to prefer bands over soloists, but if I like the music from a soloist, I'll listen to it.

Band, I'd say. I like having percussion/rhythm as a key focus. I'm a huge fan of classical, don't get me wrong, but the introduction of a drummer(Which was somewhat impossible to do with orchestra due to lacking amplification technology, and having other instruments match volume levels inside large area.) makes music come off as much more powerful, and interesting.

Plus, even if not impossible, it's hard to make solo-percussion that interesting.

Which brings us on the even sadder note... drummers are going out the window again due their expensiveness, and impracticality compared to simplistic prerecorded patterns. Hooray!

Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta declined the role for the same reason. When Al Pacino was considered for the role of John Rambo, he turned it down when his request that Rambo be more of a madman was rejected.

Totally depends on the music created. I can't say I prefer one over the other
