This album suffered from terrible production on Phil Specter's part. If you listen to the differences between The Long And Winding Road original version, which is not only one of the worst Beatles songs but also just a terrible song in general, and the version from Let it Be... Naked, you'll hear that the song itself isn't even bad without all of the terrible Wall of Sound style production thrown in.

I think the rawness of the production makes that album. Although I do agree with Janszoon that it ruins other SST albums.

While I don't feel this way about Damaged, I do agree with you that rawness makes certain albums. In fact, I think I prefer my rock music to tone down the slick production and stick with edgy, lo-fi kinda stuff. Steve Albini is a producer who really appreciates this.
