How much money are you spending a year on your favorite artist?

I was just curious to see how much fans are willing to spend on their favorite artist. Since everything is so different this day and age, makes you wonder who is still spending money to support their favorite artist.

Well. I BUY at least one of Phish's soundboards each week they're on tour. That's about $10 / week for on average 25 weeks or so / year. So that's $250 right there.

Then I like to see at least 3 concerts per year, often more. That's right around $50 a ticket (when I'm cheap), so that's another $150 added on.

I also buy t-shirts and such every year. Probably about $60 a year on that.

Then they release at least one or two DVD boxsets (or their members release solo efforts) so that's about $85 or so that I spend on DVDs / CDs / etc.

So...around $545 / year of my money goes to Phish. If not more.

The last time I actually spent money on my favourite artist (The Smashing Pumpkins) was during 2008 when I bought a gig ticket, a tour t-shirt and the American Gothic EP. I already had most of their available CDs and I've since filled in the gaps in my collection with mp3s.

I might spend money on a t-shirt though soon enough as my Adore t-shirt has had better days and my Zeitgeist tour t-shirt isn't too far behind it.

Er, I bought The Decemberists' new album, saw them twice, and picked up a shirt. That's probably as far as it's going to go this year, though I'd see them again if I could. I dunno, that's maybe a hundred bucks?

I've seen the Wonder Years twice and bought two shirts in the last 12 months and I'm considering preordering the new album. I'm not sure how that math figures out but I'm willing to bet it's a pretty small amount of money.

And they're an anomaly, I don't buy that many band shirts and I literally never pay for music. I go to shows a lot but 16 dollars split among 3 or 4 bands and everyone involved is a very tiny donation.

Oh I just steal music and drive the nails further into the coffin of the music industry.

^ It's already in the crapper...

For Pink Floyd-
I spent about $50 so far this year on memorabilia (t-shirts, stickers, posters etc.)
They are realeasing a new box set this year so that's going to be a nice +$100 dollars, really looking forward to hear some of their lost and rare music, and hopefully it's better than the Oh by the Way set. Approximatly $200 (this year) Spent about $400 dollars on Iron Maiden last year.
