The Combined Genre Recommendation Thread
 

We're always seeking new variations on old themes, new amalgams of our favourite things, and sometimes our interests are very specific and difficult to find.

This thread is to ask for recommendations that fuse specific, but differing genres together. If this is redundant to the Official Recommendation thread, I will gracefully insert my foot into my mouth, but I find the thread is used to corral newbie posts, and valid requests often go unseen.

I'm looking for a couple of albums combining the following elements:

Slowcore with noise rock.
Dream pop with neo-psychedelia.

I've given a search for these a go through RYM, but the charts will only generate releases of either/or.

These guys may fit the bill, they're nuts.

That started sounding kinda Stoner Metalish to me around the 2 minute mark. That eeriness is cool though.

I can see where you're coming from with that. To be honest, Slowcore and Noise Rock are two genres that, when combined, tend to morph into Sludge, Doom or Industrial, it's very difficult to actually identify a band that adopts a pure Slowcore take on Noise Rock.

Ah, shame. I'd really like a slow noise rock approach, but without all of the heaviness and throatiness that tends to come along with metal.

Someone write this album; you'll be a legend in 20 years, the pioneer of Slow Noise.

You've listened to Flipper, right?

I've never seen that big a distinction with Industrial and Metal myself, except if NIN is actually industrial, but that's because of the electronic/techno sound they have as well.

Check out the album Generic Flipper, it's a Punk Rock album, but the band were known for their slowed-down tempos and heavy use of distortion, great bass too.
