Probably true. I just hate the fact it was the artists who made this list. Simply all the musicians are so biased more than the real music critics.

98 Depeche Mode
Should at least be in the 50s! They were hugely influential on Industrial music (like NIN)

Quote:

93 Pearl Jam
Should at least be in the 30s! Having PJ in the 90s is a criminal offense!

Quote:

71 R.E.M.
Should at least be the 30s, along with Pearl Jam. R.E.M. have been massively influential.

61 Cream
Wow, this is a real head-shaker right here. Cream! We are talking about Cream here! Should be in the 20s! I am no fan of 'Geezer Rock' as some of us in Generation X sometimes call it, but you must give credit where credit is due.

42 Metallica
41 Van Halen
Ok Metallica should be in the 30s, but they have gotten sort of close, but what the hell is up with Van Halen? Should be in the 20s! We are talking Eddie ****ing Van Halen here! Jeez did these guys just not listen to music during the '80s at all!?!?

33 Guns N’ Roses

14 Nirvana
Both should be in the top 10.

Here is a more acceptable top 10. (bold changes)

10 Guns N' Roses
09 James Brown
08 Elvis Presley
07 Prince
06 Jimi Hendrix
05 Nirvana
04 Michael Jackson
03 Led Zeppelin
02 Rolling Stones
01 The Beatles

That Top 10 is equally bad.

5 of those artists would make up a good top ten.

The Beatles and Stones were so inspiring in the 60s and 70s they just cant be overlooked, and the hysteria that surrounded them at the time wasn't all hype, they are outstanding bands.

Elvis Presley was a revelation in the 50s. He made rock n roll what it is today, and his live performances were amazing to watch, the guys voice was smooth as butter.

Jimi Hendrix expanded on sound and took it to other universes. I have grown away from his music over the years, but Axis Bold as love and Electric Ladyland were massive recordings in the big picture of music.

While im not a big Led Zeppelin fan you can't overlook their discography as a whole. They churned out massive hit after hit.

Roots is your favorite metal album. Your opinion is invalid. ;)

Me too, but their old school material is where it's at.

No doubt, their best material was already in the rear view mirror by then.
