How did I miss that? To be honest after opening with King Kong I found the rest of the album a bit slow.

O/T but that much I did know. What sort of venue was he playing in those days?

Audio quality is not that great unfortunately:

Just checked the liner notes and while Zappa composed and arranged most of the album he only played on one track which was the only track composed by Jean Luc Ponty - How Would You Like to Have a Head Like That.

Yeah, I know .. I'm quite fond of both Zappa and Ponty! I didn't mean to make you think he played guitar all over it. I was more trying to draw your attention to the fact that Zappa was a collaborator on this album which makes it a little more interesting than just a "cover album" :)

By the way, perhaps this thread could be expanded to include various other percussion instruments that are glockenspiel/Xylophone-like, for example marimba, vibraphone or balaphone?

This song has Glockenspiel and so, although I'm sure I've posted it before here, of course I do appreciate the opportunity to post it again :D

a xylophone was played for the live version, not sure if the album version uses a synth

Maybe not my favorite song with one but probably the best use of the instrument I know of.

as for the glockenspiel, this is my fave use of it:-

it counter-points the guitar perfectly

Several Rush songs, including one I thought of independently.
