Smile A place for fine music, all in one place

Hi,
why is it so difficult to find good music sites? I mean, sites where you find different webpages related to music, but without the repetitions typical of google and other search machines.

I'm not sure I understand the question. Please elaborate.

Well, let's say you look for 'rock music' , when I do searches like that, I usually expect to find a huge variety of rock music. However, if I do the search on Google, the 914 millions search results suggest, I found my rock music. But when looking closer at the results, It turns out that the first 3 pages, at least, are dominated by results from amazon, last.fm,billboard and other giants. They finally provide almost the same selection of artists and bands.

Ahhhh, that's more an issue of your resource, which is google.

yes, exactly, yahoo isn't much different. That's what I'm asking for: a site with quality links, and with real chances for unknown bands, artists to get promoted in the web.

This problem isn't with Google or Yahoo, the problem is with the way you use it.

Typing in 'Rock Music' is pointless, you need to refine your search if you want to find anything specific.

What type of rock music are you looking for? 50s? 60s? 70s? 80s? 90s? 00s? Classic Rock? Hard Rock? Indie Rock? Noise Rock? Grunge Rock? Jazz Rock? Punk Rock? Southern Rock? Surf Rock? Glam Rock? Post Rock? Progressive Rock? Krautrock?

For every genre of music out there I'm guessing there are good sites for all of them, but you won't find them typing in 'Rock Music'

Smile rock music or indie rock?

well, if i type in indie rock, you will tell me that it is not specific enough, i should try 'indie rock from the 90s in Detroit'?
simply typing in rock music, I should then see as some of the first results web pages that discuss rock music in general (as a matter of fact, the wikiarticle about rock music appears). But, man, rock music is a wide field and I should also see pages like 'rock music and public health' , 'rock music sheets' , rock music history and such. They are all in the results, but before getting to them, I sure will have seen some kind of repeated results for rock music radio or rock music cds dvds and other sales sites.

If you were trying to make a point here I have no idea what it is.
