I grew up listening to Raffi and the Disney soundtracks, but if Yo Gabba Gabba had been around when I was an anklebiter, I would've had a great start in music.

Only band I can really think of who I have any familiarity with is They Might Be Giants.

And thus the form that had been developing in the weekly themed music recognition has died.

Does Peter Paul and Mary's work count? They're technically a folk band but kids love their infamous Puff the Magic Dragon, but the group doesn't necessarily cater to children. Ah, hell I'm just going to post it:

I remember watching this movie when I was 9. Such a simpler time.

I'd count it :) It's the only version I could ever stand.

From his childrens album. They do not have the one I wanted to post (Dinosaur Song). But this will do.

why not... though I think even though it is about a child, it is also directed at adults. Being that it is a song about lost childhood and innocence. Shame the song is more associated with pot... but that is just people attaching their own meaning to it. To think they have made it into that is more heartbreaking than what the song actually means in some ways. Sigh.

Burl Ives - 'Little White Duck' - great collection of children's folk songs with one stand-out track: "Buckeye Jim" - a lilting lullaby filled with surreal imagery. I don't know what it's about but it gets me every time...

One of my friends who works at a sleep-away camp says this one has turned into a kids song they sing around the fire almost every night...

The bariotone sax has to be the coolest sounding instrument ever.
