Pictures of Your Album Collection
I tried looking for a thread like this but I couldn't find any. If any exist, please point me in the direction.
Anyway, I'll start: http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...d2000/CDS6.jpg http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...d2000/CDs7.jpg http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...d2000/CDs5.jpg http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...d2000/CDs4.jpg http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...d2000/CDs3.jpg http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...d2000/CDs2.jpg http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...id2000/CDs.jpg Most of these are on my spin shelf now, in mini-sleeves which allows me to keep the artwork and conserve space. (this is only 2 shelves of my collection) |

no seriously, i only actually own one physical album and that's the best of radiohead cd. everything i own is on my computer |
I'll take a picture of the record collection we have here, but for now:
I've got everything alphabetized by band, than all the albums with the band, than all the songs with the albums with the band under the corresponding letter of the band. http://i45.tinypic.com/t8xcg2.png |

My CD collection. I pretty much just buy one out of pity for my local record store, put it in this stack and then never touch it again. I have a few more out in the car, but for the most part I just use burned CDs now because I can make mixes and I tend to enjoy that more when I'm out driving. http://i986.photobucket.com/albums/a.../Music_001.png Like many other people, this is how I keep my digital music organized. |
Loathsome Pete: I like that shell theme... which one is it?
|
My shell theme is Zukitwo-Shell with Elementary window theme Zukitwo GTK+ theme and Malys-Uniblue icon theme.
|
Thaaaaank you. :)
|
I'm also running Pinguy OS 12.04.
|
I'm amazed at how many people seem to store their cd's horizontally, they should be stored vertically based on everything that I've read.
|
CopShootCop - Ask Questions Later is very much out of print and is that the Nirvana box set hiding under all that stuff? :)

The history of my music collection, beginning back in the 80s when vinyl was king! (No, you can't read the spines probably; that's just how vinyl albums are: they kind of fall together, the dust covers obscure the spines and over time the writing fades. Ah, vinyl...) :) Oh, and for anyone wondering, no, that meditation CD on the floor is not mine. Just holding on to it for a friend. Really. What do you mean, you don't believe me...?
http://www.trollheart.com/albumracksmall.jpg Then as the 80s moved into the 90s and CDs became more widely available, this ended up being my CD collection, or most of it at any rate http://www.trollheart.com/cdracksmall.png (note: for those who are somehow interested, I have much higher res pictures where you can zoom in and read some of the album covers/spines, but as these are HUGE I didn't want to post them here. I've included links instead, should anyone wish to view them) Larger versions: http://www.trollheart.com/cdrack.jpg http://www.trollheart.com/cdrack2.jpg http://www.trollheart.com/cdrack3.jpg http://www.trollheart.com/cdrack4.jpg http://www.trollheart.com/cdrack5.jpg These days, of course, everything is stored on the PC, and recently I've tried to categorise and organise the albums better, resulting in (DA-DA-DA-DAAAH!) Trollheart's Music World. It's split up into various "countries" (bear with me) and any subdivided country into cities, then towns, villages and so on. So the main directory looks like this http://www.trollheart.com/thmw1small1.png then delving further into, say, the Rock Country we find the various subdivisions, shown as "cities" (yeah I know but I was bored with the usual names for folders. So sue me.) http://www.trollheart.com/thmw2small1.png with sub-sub divisions in some of those, called "towns", as in Prog Rock Country below http://www.trollheart.com/thmw3small1.png and so on. Again, for those who literally have nothing else to do and want to delve more deeply into my music collection and how it's organised on my computer, I've included links, but there are a few too many images to post here. There are also too many links, so I've put up a page with them and posted that below. (Trollheart's Music World links) |
I've only been gathering in albums that I really love for a short while now, but I've got three spots where I generally keep my albums.
First, my nifty spot atop of my speaker for current favourites: http://i1205.photobucket.com/albums/...d/IMG_1404.jpg Next, the albums that I bought a year or more ago and let my family/friends/homeless men borrow as long as they bring it back. Or not, I don't really care about these ones: http://i1205.photobucket.com/albums/...z_img_1402.jpg And lastly, the stack that I keep safe in my room and hidden away from harm: http://i1205.photobucket.com/albums/...d/IMG_1403.jpg |

This is my rack outside my bedroom I have another 2 racks this size in the spare room. |
Frownland, love the "twisty" CD racks! Very eclectic! And very cool! Bet when you're drunk you often ask yourself, now did I buy straight racks or are they MEANT to wave about like that...? :)

Wow - almost 40 yrs of record collecting distilled down to one blurry photo - kind of humbling. I'm proud to say though that I have kept it tight over the years. No crates of dross that I never listen to piled up everywhere, as is easy to do with records. My collection is built for active listening.
Record storage case courtesy of IKEA. They must have a lot of record collectors in Sweden... http://images5a.snapfish.com/2323232...3B432%3Anu0mrj |

Basically the music folder on my external hard drive. Getting pretty full :( Only have around 200 CD's, but I am trying to correct that, especially for my favourite artists. :) |
Is that 16Volt album FullBlackHabit (2007) or Beating Dead Horses (2011)?
|
Super Cool Nothing :)

Looks awesome! I say you are the winner so far. As for me, my CD/vinyl collection is in cabinets, but not nearly as available or visible as i would like when i am not listening via computer. |

Like most people the vast majority of my music collection is digital, I'll post screenshots later, but I do have a lot of classic rock / metal tapes.
