"Rewrite" a song!

Hey! First off, I'm completely new to this forum, so I didn't really know where to put this thread.

Let's jump right to it, I want to "rewrite" a song. Kinda like John Mayer did with People Get Ready. You know, you take the same chords, the same concept but then you make it your own. You write your own lyrics, you add some new guitar parts, maybe a solo etc etc.

The problem is just, I don't know what song I want to "rewrite".
I'm looking for a nice old song, which I then can add a little pop-feeling to

So yeah, if you guys could help me out, posts links to a few good old classic songs with nice chord-progressions that would be much appreciated!
