Haven't listened to those tracks but no, totally disagree. I love when an orchestra is employed to reinterpret the sound of a class song, or even when you get these albums of symphony orchestras playing the music of bands, like classic rock or prog rock. I have an album called "We know what we like: the London Symphony Orchestra plays the music of Genesis" and it's just brilliant. I wasn't impressed with Peter Gabriel's "New blood", but then TSO do some great work and generally I can't really think of any time an orchestra was added to a song that they didn't enhance it. Orchestras are professional outfits: they know what they're doing.

Actually, you've just given me a great idea for my journal.... ;)

I was referring to rockers performing with orchestras whereas you went further and showed clips where original artists are totally eliminated. That sucks even more :) I also hate it when great rock songs become elevator music in supermarkets and hotels... But each is entitled to their own opinion.

Comfortably Numb is a great track, and imo shows the best way to use an orchestra on a rock album; to add just a touch of colour or help out with a crescendo, rather like the Beatles usually did. ( Until, because Lennon had lost interest, McCartney was allowed to get away with Long and Winding Road.)
Sorry,Trollheart, but with the exception of Days of Future Passed, I agree with vktr, that rock and rollers and orchestras should keep away from each other. Wait a minute though, there`s Time and a Word, which is a beautiful album, and that Genesis tribute you mention sounds quite intriguing too....
