RIP Ravi Shankar

Well, we've lost another legend, folks.

Probably the first name in Indian classical music, Ravi lived a life dedicated to music in a way few have come close to. Very sad. Rest in peace.

I'm currently listening to the Ravi and Philip Glass collaboration Passages. If you haven't heard it, I recommend you do.

Sad to hear he's gone. Sadder still that my wife told me the news this morning as, "Hey did you hear Nora Jones' father died?"

Yep, heard this am on the news. He was 90 something so he lived a long and I'm assuming fulfilling life.

If you've never heard his music, here's the one that pulled me in:

Sad to hear this. I don't have any of his albums, will download the one duga recommended sometime soon.

Very sad. I'm in the camp that knows Ravi mainly through his associations with the Beatles/George Harrison. I remember his performance for the Concert for Bangladesh film, which I found rather interesting because I had never seen Indian-style instruments being played before. I always kept a look out for his albums at the record shop, but never saw any. If some albums in particular get name dropped in this thread I might seek them out. R.I.P.
