Default Beginner-intermediate Bass lines

Hey guys

Well I've been self teaching myself the bass since august last year
so far I think I've gotten pretty alright with the bass, still trying to learn how to slap atm

But so far all the songs I have learnt to play are red hot chilli pepper songs because flea creates some of the most beautiful bass lines (i think) that are pretty easy for someone at my level to learn but I want to learn some bass lines from different artists and genres. Looking at bass lines from the funk, jazz and blues genres but not too fussy for any kind to be honest. I just want to keep learning and playing

So hit with your best shot guys! Which bass lines would you recommend ??

Thanks,
Armadeus

Oh how times have changed hahaha

It used to be Flea was the step up and there was no way to play his lines without being able to slap and pop (and usually after learning more simple fare).

Either way you might find the bass lines in Hendrix tunes to be interesting, they're not necessarily the most technically demanding but there's a certain level of improvised jamming in most of the tracks which will definitely help you build up some groovy chops.

Might also want to consider some Primus / Les Claypool as well, I remember playing along to most of their Tales From the Punchbowl album back in the day (less slapping on that disc).

Mind you I've only learnt a few songs and their probably the more easier ones to learn as well but I pick up music quite well because of the way I learnt Piano since i was 6
I'm just starting to teach myself to slap and pop.
But I thought it would be good for me to learn some other styles from different artists while expanding my library on music as well.

Thanks for the reccomendations mr dave. I have a few jimi hendrix cd's that i'll look back up again

Hey checked out jimi hendrix and he has some sweet bass lines in his song like I fell in love with "All along the watch tower"

Any songs that I can learn to play that people would think would involve slapping?
I figured Can't stop was a good song to learn to start slapping after seeing the RHCP live in sydney
