Default The Art of Music - anyone else dabble?

Does anyone else dabble in music-based art or posters?

I recently pulled together a long-held design idea based around the heroes of American Music.

I must admit it is a little biaised towards my personal taste

Well, if the geography question is raised there's a LOT of inconsistencies. Metallica and RHCP are backwards. The Dead are in WYOMING ferpissakes. Zappa is on the wrong coast. o_O

Where possible I've located bands/artists as close as possible to their "spiritual home" ;-)

With the huge amount of important artists from areas such as New York and California it's been a bit of a challenge and some compromises had to be made in the interest of the overall look & feel of the design.

I started off placing the biggest artists (IMHO) in the correct spot and then worked around them.

I hope I'm not judged too harshly and that I haven't flung too many people's favourite bands to odd locations :-)

Wasn't Zappa born in Baltimore?

Yeah, after I posted that I realize that Public Enemy is in Chicago.

I thought they were founded in Long Island, NY?

I fully recognise that there'll be a few bands a little out of place geographically but that's a conscious design decision.

Any feedback on the design in general?

Anything I could do to improve it? (other than shift around the location of a band or two)

They were. I was just saying that on that map their name is located on top of Chicago.

that image you created looks real cool, regardless of whether or not there are geographical inconsistencies. i'm guessing though that if it were all geographically accurate you could probably sell it.

this is the last show poster i made.

Yeah, a lot of my art is based off of music, or the sensation and colours I see when listening to music.
To give an example, I drew and painted these while listening to this song.
