Layne Staley
Elliot Smith
Adam Yauch
Janis Joplin
Jimi Hendrix
SRV

All of which I would have liked to see just one more song, another album... see how they might have developed...

Two standardbearers, who perhaps didn't die terribly much before their time and who had their flaws, but as charismatic evangelists remain unsurpassed:

Leonard Bernstein

Virgil Fox

Two composers of tremendous talent and promise, and distinctive voices, who were taken from us in their twenties:

Jehan Alain

Julius Reubke

The person I wish was still around more often than not was Freddy Mercury.

I completely forgot Kirsty MacColl. What a treasure she was.

Yep, you're right. If I recall correctly he was afraid of driving.

Marvin Gaye's death was quite a shock, being killed by his own father especially. What a senseless waste.

I second Bradley Nowell. Can't imagine where Sublime would be today if he was still around.

Also, LeRoi Moore.

This isn't the lounge, print some bloody names or something saying who these people are.

djchameleon 07-18-2013 07:17 AM

They are easily recognizable faces.

I think Sublime would have definitely went on and kept churning out great albums. Bradley had such a gift when it came to song writing and writing on the spot or mid jam.

I love their live performances and raw recording sessions from Everything Under The Sun. A lot of them are freestyles which is really really impressive, and they always flow so well.

He is definitely one of, if not my biggest inspirations and influences when it comes to my style musically.

One's got to be Aaliyah, someone who did absolutely nothing for music but because she blew so many people in the late 90's/early 2000's r&b and hip-hop scenes seems to be hailed as the Goddess of contemporary music.

I'm sick of hearing her name dropped, and for no reason. What did she ever accomplish musically?
