The Drones - I See Seaweed "I See Seaweed" is the new album by the australian punk-blues group "The Drones" This album is incredibly intense, loud, but also has some softer moments between all of that loudness. While not being the most revolutionary album, this dramatic ocean themed album is so passionate, and succeeds in everything it does so well, that it certainly worth your time to check it out. |

My Bloody Valentine - MBV 22 years after the mythic shoegaze band "My Bloody Valentine" have released their classic "Loveless", MBV comes out of no-where, when everyone thought we will never see another My Bloody Valentine release. If MBV proves anything, is that my bloody valentine are still relevant and while not being the fundamental classic Loveless is, it is an excellent release. The dreamy and beautiful atmosphere of MBV is quite incredible, and may mold into your heart if youll give it a try. |

James Holden - The Inheritors Hailing from UK, James Holden's new album "The Inheritors" is an incredible achievement. This electronic album contains materfully-crafted sounds that just like the album cover, feel old and tribal but also futuristic in a way. As if aliens with superior technology visit the old ancient earth. With thick atmosphere and beautiful production, this album is, at least in my opinion, one of the best releases this year. |

Deafheaven - Sunbather In my honest opinion, one of the best things happened in metal for quite a while. This album combines elements from post rock, screamo, and black metal, creating beautiful landscapes with both of its louder and softer moments. This album is passionate, its beautiful, and it succeeds at everything it tries to do. certainly worth your time to check it out. |

Boards Of Canada - Tomorrow's Harvest It's been several years since the mythic IDM group "Boards Of Canada" have released a new album. along with MBV, this album is one of the most hyped comeback albums of this year. Instead of going with the warm-nostalgic approach the duo have been taking in their previous efforts, Tomorrow's Harvest is much colder, even apocalyptic - and it excels at what it does. Even though Tomorrow's Harvest is not the greatest thing Boards Of Canada have done, it is an excellent release and a welcomed addition to their catalogue of mesmerizing electronic sounds. If you enjoyed Boards Of Canada's previous efforts or IDM in general, this album is a must check out. |
I apologize if this comes across as a little snarky, it's not my intent, but is this list going to be RYM's Top 100 for 2013?
|
Is this list in descending order, yeah? I'm going to have to check out the BoC album, just so far behind in what I want to listen to. Is it similar to Music has the Right to Children? Nice list however would prefer a little variety, it's all a bit hipster thus far.
Can I also hop on what Pete's saying and predict that we see Laura Stevenson and Kurt Vile enter 1 and 2  |
^^
My thoughts exactly pretty much. I mean, nobody is ever going to accuse my AOTY list of 2013 so far of being particularly obscure or completely out of the box, but there've been assloads of great albums this year in pretty much every genre under the sun: go explore a little bit for God's sake rofl! |
But really though, Laura Stevenson's new album is phenomenal, definitely worth a place on any top album list of 2013, regardless of whether it is included on RYM's top 100. There's some good stuff on this list though. Really loved that Deafheaven album. (and I was surprised)

Run The Jewels - Run The Jewels I'm usually not the biggest hip-hop fan, as I will be the first to admit, but I really enjoyed this album. Its intense, fun and has many epic moments that made me dig it.to put it out simply, its badass. This album has a huge replay value, partially because of its short lentgh, but mainly because of its superb compositions and performance. if you want something intense, fun and badass, you have it here. |

The Knife - Shaking The Habitual Unusual, Insane, Unique, Experimental - are all adjectives that describe quite well the new album of the swedish electronic duo, The Knife - Shaking The Habitual. Alternating through downright odd synth pop songs and mesmerizing and eerie ambient songs, Shaking The Habitual is one of the most unique albums of this year. but its also one of the best. With a sprawling 90 minutes of experimental music,It is a very hard album to get into, but once you get it, there is no way back. absolutely incredible. |
cool ill check out these albums out later maybe

I'll use this opportunity to show you my mad paint skills:

Jon Hopkins - Immunity A fantastic Ambient/IDM album by the UK producer Jon Hopkins. Its so subtle and calm with its approach, its one of those albums that if you wont pay attention to them, you will miss everything out, because of the laid back nature of it. It is a masterfully produced album with alot of creative sounds and beautiful ambient landscapes, highly suggested to anyone who dig that kind of music. |

Kurt Vile - Wakin On A Pretty Daze The new album of the psychadelic folk artist kurt Vile is simply gorgeous. The hazy folk sounds Kurt is creating in this album are beautiful, and even the rockiest moments of this album are still laid back, and his voice takes it even further with his hazy yet honest nature. Highly suggested to anyone who is into that kind of music and wants some atmospheric folk music. |
^ That one's definitely high on my list right now.

The Flaming Lips - The Terror In this album, The Flaming Lips have abandoned all of their pop influences, and created a unique experimental electronic album. This album is oddly beautiful, and feels eerie, even paranormal. The production is unique - its almost like you are experiencing those songs, rather than hearing them. If any of you loved other flaming lips material, or want something unique which is less odd than the knife, you have it here. |
