Henry Mancini

Anyone besides me a big fan?

No? OK, Didn't think so.

SATCHMO 06-14-2005 04:46 PM

Man, Where's Urban when you need em' ?!?!?!

right-track 06-14-2005 04:56 PM

O.K. I'm interested, not sure you're serious but you seem to know your stuff.
Don't know much about him...Moon River? **** loads of film scores also!
What else?

SATCHMO 06-14-2005 05:58 PM

If you just sit down and listen to his music minus the films its just so surreal you could almost call it psychedelic. He was a huge influence on trip-hop, Deep House, and Acid Jazz. I have strange tastes what can I say.

right-track 06-15-2005 03:29 PM

Ha, ha, you definately have and interesting too!
Definately need to know more about Mancini ,can you tell me more?
Like who he influenced in particular?

Fenixpunk 06-15-2005 03:39 PM

he did the pink panther theme...one of the slickest scores. up there with Monty Normans James Bond theme.

...

Well, I like 'Pink Panther'

I am a huuuuge fan of Mancini, but mostly of his work on the Breakfast at Tiffany's soundtrack. That album is pure gold. I seriously used to listen to it every day in middle school. My grandfather recommended it to me as a kid, and I never looked back.

Sorry for necromancing the thread, but today I was listening to the Pianoriental album Linsaholic that won a FAIR club recognition, and I got thinking about Henry Mancini again.

Satchmo, besides Breakfast at Tiffany's and Pink Panther, do you have any other song/album recommendations?

Here are my favorites:

This is great for dinner parties.

Good for background music while playing Clue.

This always puts me in the mood.

So, there you go. Enjoy! :)
