Worried about X Factor and modern pop.
 

OK, So, shows like X Factor suck, they are entertainers, not proper singers, Simon Cowell is a douche, The music on the radio sucks, Katy Perry, Bieber, 1D, and Cher Lloyd all suck. there are very few good mainstreamers, like Dizzee Rascal and Will.i.Am and Mcfly and The Wanted, Daft Punk are good too. but i think we should have real Talent like, Dubstep, Heavy Metal, Classic Rock, Prog Rock, Country and folk(which Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran are doing a very good job at) even my mum says she likes this music because it's easy to listen to.:confused:

Please send me a good will.i.am song.

What's your point? That good music should exist? It does; the world isn't encompassed by pop, fads and the X-Factor. What are you trying to say??

Well actually, it does exist, i just wished there was no pop, fads and x factor. but there is very few good genres these days.

What a total crock! Of course there are good genres. Genres have always existed, well not always but in recent times. Genres and sub-genres too. There's hip-hop, rock, heavy metal, classical, soul, r&B, and of course subgenres within those: progressive rock and metal, doom metal, neoclassical, AOR .... your post makes no sense.

Sure we all wish there were no fads like X Factor but they'll always be there. Doesn't mean good music doesn't exist, doesn't mean you have to listen to X Factor music. Man! You might as well say I wish evil didn't exist, or religion, or small purple aliens that only I can see.... :rolleyes:

If this were an age when all that you had was the radio, Pre MTV days, it would have been a little rough, although a trip to a library or a listen to late night radio might offer a few pointers. Still, at that time, you really had to risk a few dollars to actually hear of something is to your taste or not.

Today, there's no excuse to complain because there's a lot of good music being made that's easy to find. Sorry, but even if, to quote Noel Gallagher, "The choreographers have taken over the world" when it comes to Pop music, that does not mean that there are no audio fire escapes from the burning building that is the Mainstream Music Industry.

The mainstream industry has a bottom line to deal with, and after having an era where it just gave videos away to MTV while making the bands pay the bill during the Top 40 Buffet of the 80's and 90's, it was left with some kind of debt that was huge enough to get rid of anything called taking a chance. That means people like me and possibly over half of this set of posters are pushed out of the market research most of the time unless if someone with a good image that sells attracts an audience enough for the industry to notice something else is out there.

Yes, that means that you have to run through Spotify, read sites like Pitchfork (despite it's critics, it does offer some pointers), and take some time to hear some music that you have not heard of but will spend very little money. If it attracts, and you like it, case closed...just don't expect much of the great stuff to even break #100 on the charts or see your neighbors or classmates to know about it.

Back in my day, the alternative shows were mainly on Sunday Nights in 2-4-hour blocks, and MAYBE there would be a station that would play part of what I was looking for. I had to have friends who know of publications which would write about music and even stumble upon other magazines and newspapers plus travel many miles back and forth. Now, you have the safety of your home and the Internet.

Yup, there's plenty of fantastic music still being made and, this is true for every human alive, there's also plenty of fantastic old music to discover and delight in. Today's music might not be as good as the stuff produced in the 60s and 70s (that's my opinion anyway) but that music hasn't gone anywhere, we can still play it and enjoy it and we also have all of today's brilliant new music too, so there's no excuse for moaning. Good music is out there and it's really not that difficult to find, especially with the advent of internet radio.
