Post Nominees for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2014 - Who deserves to win?

The nominations for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s of 2014 are out and includes Nirvana, Kiss, Deep Purple and Peter Gabriel. The rest of the 16 nominees are Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Chic, LL Cool J, N.W.A., Link Wray, The Meters, Linda Ronstadt, Cat Stevens, Yes, The Zombies, Hall and Oates and The Replacements.

The ceremony is held to April next year in New York. Note for the fact that the public gets to vote alongside the artists and historians for the second consecutive year. Remember that all the 16 nominees must have edited the first album till 1988 – ‘Bleach’ , the first album of Nirvana, went to stores in 1989 but it’s eligible because ‘Love Buzz’ was their first single, back in 1988.

Chic
Deep Purple
Hall And Oates
Kiss
Linda Ronstadt

The Meters for sure. One of the best funk bands from the late 60s.

Purple should've been in a long time ago.

Peter Gabriel's my favourite from that list. He's a consummate artist.

Deep Purple for sure, I thought they were in already? If they don't get it then I'd like to see it go to Nirvana in that case.

Been revisiting Perfect Strangers lately. Back when it came out, I thought it was the end-all-be-all of music. Absolutely fantastic piece of work.

Bloody good album. Basically, every time I hear Black Night I get chills down my spine. Child In Time does the same thing. Do you have a particularly favourite album of theirs?
