What genre are they?

Im gonna name an artist/band, and you need to argue what genre they are mainly in. Some musicians don't have one obvious genre, so that's where you have to argue about what you think. Once their is a clear decision, I'll do another.

The Beatles????

I prefer chess. Does that make me boring?

:tramp: A song mentioning chess! Today is a good day. Make no mistake.

ladyislingering 11-08-2013 08:16 PM

Even better, it's from a musical called "Chess" by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus (of ABBA fame).

Spoiler for stuff's neat, brother:

After the first post, I read the other posts, and I don't know what to do now.

I was thinking more along the lines of viking metal with the odd lovey dovey lyrics added in just to be different. But hey, to each his own.

I'm pretty sure they're harsh-noise inspired free jazz.

Fear ye not. The universe is unfolding exactly as it should. There is no other way.

You asked what genre the Beatles were when you can just Google it. What else did you expect?

No, some artists do not have one clear genre. The point of the whole thread was kind of like a game (maybe I should of put it in the games section) where you decide what genre they are and debate about it here. Then once there was a clear decision that most agreed on, I would list another musician.

But like I said, even if there isn't a clear genre, someone could go to Google and find two or three genres that the artist falls under. I'm not saying it's a bad idea for a silly game, but i'm just giving you a reason for why people wouldn't take it seriously. Plus, you started with The Beatles, it'd be better to start with a band that is really confusing.

Mr. Charlie 11-10-2013 11:20 AM

Let's start again. What genre?:

this is true - the Beatles played around with rock, pop, psych rock, experimental, and blues.
