I don't know a lot of screamo, but you should hear the 10 Songs album by I Hate Myself if you haven't already

Probably the only genre (however wide spread) that I really have no knowledge of. It would also enable me to post something in the "Recommended to me thread"

Much as I love JS Bach, I prefer Georg Phillip Telemann.

You should check out this thread, which features metric tonnes of great music:

Will anyone kindly try to win me over, too? I'm trying to get into it, but I'm not getting anywhere, it seems.

Some of my personal favourite works; might not click with you two but it's just a try:

Beethoven: Piano Concerto No. 5 (Especially the 2nd movement)
Grieg: Piano Concerto in A minor
Dvořak: Symphony No. 9
Stravinsky: Rite of Spring
Stravinsky: The Firebird
Holst: The Planets
Mozart: Symphony No. 40

My recommendation would be Holst's "The planets" suite, as you probably know some of the music already from ads and metal covers and whatnot. A good starting point, and one of my alltime favourite classical records.

Holy crap that is a great list and only missing a few to be my own top list, ie Rachmaninoff's piano concerto no. 1, Tchaikovsky's "Sleeping Beauty" waltz, Staruss "The blue Danube" and, well I guess loads more but that's a great list. Kudos! :thumb:

It's far more widespread than any other genre in existence, since it stretches over several centuries. I like to start people off with piano music since it's not too daunting. How about Felix Mendelssohn's "Songs Without Words", op. 19, No. 1, composed in 1829.

Listen to that and tell me what you think.
