Bruno Mars Scores Most Watched Super Bowl Half Time Show of All-Time
http://www.billboard.com/files/style...r-bowl-650.jpg Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers' performance attracted the largest audience in the history of Super Bowls, attracting 115.3 million viewers, Fox announced Monday, citing Nielsen data. That figure surpasses the prior record of 114.0 million set by Madonna two years ago and the 110.8 million who tuned in to see Beyonce last year. Mars sang "Give it Away" with the Peppers, executed James Brown dance moves and Police riffs and closed with his hit ballad "Just the Way You Are" at halftime of a blowout won by the Seattle Seahawks, 43-8. The game had an average viewing audience of 111.5 million viewers, the largest in history. The final number was significantly higher than than 98.88 million viewers reported in the overnight ratings from Nielsen that measure the top 56 markets. It initially appeared Super Bowl XLVIII would be the fifth most-watched in history. The one musician who may well have received the most exposure for new music is Prince, who guest-starred on "New Girl" immediately after the game. The episode, watched by nearly 26 million viewers, included a performance of his new song "PretzelBodyLogi c." http://www.billboard.com/articles/ev...e-show-ratings Congratulations Bruno!!! You truly TRULY deserve this!!! |
He put on a hell of a show. I just wish he played his better stuff.
|
He REALLY did!
The best half time show since Prince! What we saw last night was simply RAW talent No flash, no special effects, no gimmicks etc I loved that he showcased his musicianship and killed on the drums! I am soo happy for him! I am glad real talent is shining for a change in the mainstream, it really needs it! I am just now hoping Janelle Monae can blow up. |
That may have very likely been influenced by the fact that last night was the most watched Super Bowl of all time

I slept right through it. Im not kidding. Woke up deep in the 3rd quarter.
|
well i dont really attribute all that much to bruno, it was the most watched superbowl and most ppl watch the halftime show. im sure nobody tuned in just for the halftime show. but it was a great performance all around
|
I tuned in just for the half time show.
|
lol predictable reply is predictable, i wondered how many posts til that was posted
|
Incorrect post is incorrect.
|
ummm....no... ok
not takin anythin away from bruno but hes not teh reason his performance was most watched |
When Madonna was the most watched half time show more people tuned in to watch her show more than the actual game.
So it is very possible people tuned in just to watch him. It is pretty impressive Bruno surpassed fMadonna! Go Bruno! |

Can't you miserable bastards stay on topic for once? Guy puts on one ****-kicker of a show, and we've got to talk about the ****ing Neilson ratings. |

Nielsan ratings are included in that link but Beyonce's are exaggerated a bit I remember after her show last year they made the the viewship hours public and 90 million only watched her halftime, alot tuned out but they overhype her all the time and NFL received alot of complaints from parents. |
Quote:
They complained about Prince's performance, Beyonce and everyone else. that's not even a big deal. |

Prince did not get nearly as many complaints as Beyonce. I did not say that to imply that it"is a big deal" but just pointing that fact out since last year they overhyped her performance like "everyone" enjoyed it. When she performed last year the actual game received more viewership than her halftime performance so once again I think people tuned into halftime to see Bruno not because of the actual game. Half time performances and the actual game are two different things. There are alot of people who just watch Halftime and not the actual game so it is very possible. The ratings show that people obviously tuned in to see Bruno perform. |

It does not necessarily mean people liked it just because they did not tune out. But the statistics above show another point as well. It shows that people are not afraid to tune out before or during half time if they really do not want to watch it. If 10 million tuned out of Beyonce's half time, why didn't 10 million tune out of Bruno's (if they really did not want to watch it for the majority)? There are always the exceptions to take into consideration which you mentioned. However, I think overall people were interested in watching his half time. |
That ish was dope.

It was decent performance but his songs are rubbish. he'd catch a grenade for who he's never been in a committed relationship long enough to know that. Talking to the Moon feeling sorry for his own self destructive attitude, Just the Way You Are? Come on. Writing soppy love songs, saying what he thinks women want to hear and not following his own advice he's so commercial and such a sell out. How about writing about something interesting for once? Talking about being a billionaire, drinking, being lazy, pretending to be romantic to get sex he's about as much as a douche as you can get but because he dresses it up in nice girly songs that's ok. I'm hoping the Bruno Mars love in ends soon. He's certainly nothing like MJ or Prince and he's not even original in what he writes about. |

He isn't............ but NO ONE will ever be like MJ and Prince because there is ONLY one MJ and ONLY one Prince.;) I think he is very refreshing in this autotune and overly sexual industry though. He gives a good live show and sticks to the basics. He does not do the flash, special effects, gimmicks etc. I think the younger acts should do more traditional style of performing because that is really all you need A good performer does not need other things to distract. He is growing as an artist and his music is growing as well. I like that his music is eclectic and he is at least TRYING to do different things with his music. He is clearly and obviously inspired by alot of 60s 70s and 80s style of music and I can not knock an artist for at least trying to be creative. I think he will get better and better over time. |
