If you want to rec some stuff I'll gladly give it a reasonable attempt. I can be stubborn at times but I'm not hopelessly close-minded, especially when it comes to enjoying music. My opinion on this is not based off of nothing.

I'm glad to hear you're coming around a little bit. When we had that conversation before it sounded like you weren't even willing to give anything a listen.

There's early Ravi Shankar, Howlin Wolf, joe Washington, little Richard, son house, chuck berry, moondog, and andrés Segovia among others if were not going to touch on jazz and classical (that could fill pages and pages).

Nope, can't really find enjoyment in it. I hope that someday I will in at least some form of electronic music(there's a lot of different genres in it). Opinions can change after all. Threre was a time when I didn't like Minor Threat. I thought it sounded weird, because I was used to modern pop music and pop punk back than.
It's a strange thought, becaue I love minor threat.... xD.

I stayed away from everything reggae-related during many years because I was annoyed by everybody telling how great Bob Marley was. I was mostly into punk and hardcore at the time and even the whole 'spiritual' side of reggae music annoyed me. I simply didn't get what can be so great about jamaican music.
Last year I went to Max Romeo and Cornell Campbell shows, had a great time and I really enjoy digging into reggae history now.

What they called emo back in the mid 2000s. I guess it was more the mainstream stuff like MCR, Taking Back Sunday and stuff, you know those years where the genre got really muddled. I never even knew about old style stuff like Fugazi back then (which I regret)

Maybe it's not for everyone, but if you Country Blues, finger-picking, or even the guitar in general, I would definitely recommend it...

I don't really like listening to jazz anymore. When I was in my 20's it was half of what I listened to. I still have the same degree of respect for the genre, I just don't particularly care to listen to it. As a matter of fact, anymore I don't really like listening to much of anything that sounds overly dated. If I've gotten nostalgic about anything it would have to be 80's hair metal, but honestly, I listen to more new music now at 42 than I did when I was in my early 20's.

Never used to have any interest in old jazz/soul singers, now I love a bit of Nancy Wilson, Deniece Williams, Marlena Shaw etc...

I never outright hated that stuff, so perhaps more of a musical 90 than a full 180 in that sense...
