The Recommendation Game!

Recommend song for previous poster, based on what they posted. Then post your own songs and get recs. Simple enough!

Some ground rules to keep things going smoothly...

-Listen to at least the first half of the song. Preferably all of it.

-If someone posts something of a genre you're just not into at all, you can either wait till someone else posts, or post a song with a similar vibe. You don't have to follow their genre for it to be an enjoyable recommendation. (I.e., don't recommend a Metallica song to somebody just because they posted metal)

-Obviously, be respectful of other people's tastes.

-Keep chit-chat to a minimum! If you'd like to respond to someone's recommendation, whether positively or negatively, try to do it in the same post that you're recommending to somebody else.

-Have fun or else!

I think this thread can really spawn some excellent, enjoyable new artists for everyone, and inspire a sense of kinship as we plunder and compare our tastes in the depths of the musical world!

I guess I'll start off with this. What else do you think I'd like based on it?

Good idea, and a good song.

Rec for you:

And my song:

Gotta admit, that rec didn't jive with me. I was hoping for vocals more on the 'blisteringly rough' side like the original song. Instrumentally not bad though!

Yours was a tough one because I vaguely know your taste in music and didn't wanna rec something you're already familiar with. 16 HP would have been perfect. But hopefully this is new to you and enjoyable:

More like this?

Reminds me of Fahey's album "Womblife", not sure whether you've heard it or not.

I'd like to hear something similar to this.

Maybe this?

For me...

Thanks for that Bob. I've never listened to Chokebore before. Very dissident. I can understand the 'slightly-out-of-tune' guitar stylings, but I always want to grab the guitar and throw it when I hear that type of chording.

I'll refrain from a rec for yours, so this doesn't turn into a Bob and Plank thread.

Carpe Mortem 05-15-2014 12:04 PM

Bob... these dudes are kinda similar to that Satisfact song. I gotta admit they're not super similar, I don't listen to much of that type of music, but similar vocals and pretty cool cover/video. Hope you dig, if you're not already familiar!

More like this? Especially the vocals, coupled with this style, and dat bass.

More "Dat Bass" than the vox, but hey... wtheck:
