Do you listen to music in albums or picked songs?

A lot of times I've seen people say that in the digital age of music, most people don't listen to the whole album anymore. I can't inmagine listening to music in another format. Sure, sometimes I just pick a few songs I like , but I ususally listen to albums. Especially if it's new music I'm discovering, than I always listen to the whole album.

Do you guys listen to the whole album or just pick songs you feel like listening to, generally speaking?

I'm a bit like you when it comes to discovering new music; I normally listen in full albums, but if it's something I'm familiar with, such as the music collection on my iPod, I'm just as likely to listen to individual songs, or a shuffle of many different types of music.

Coincidentally, this thread is somewhat similar in subject to a thread I made before new year's, although that one was more about whether or not people actually synced full albums to their music devices.

I usually to get into a band i start by picking a few songs from them, and yes, i usually pick their popular hits first to get into them and if i like their vibe and i think they are consistently good THEN i go for their albums

on a related note, I think nowadays we are overwhelmed by choices, there are so many bands out there and so many influences from ppl in the internet reviewing those bands, sayin who sucks, who doesn't, which artist has more credibility, etc

so many opinions makes you question your own opinion until eventually you don't really know what your opinion is

add to that abundance in music ppl collecting bands on a whim and you got an ipod full of albums you'll probably never hear
Why? because you keep hearing about new bands that are equally as good so you digest a whole cd in a couple of minutes and jump on to the next band

Im more of a quality than a quantity kinda guy, not every band appeals to my personal taste so idk alot of bands but im pleased with the ones i know.

I usually listen to individual songs more often than albums. For a while I stopped listening to albums, but lately I've been listening to albums a little more often on yt. I only settle on giving an album a listen if I like enough songs from a band, and I'm curious to what else they have. My time is split doing different things, I go through songs, product reviews, interviews, documentaries, and then albums.

I grew up on the concept album and I loved it, but I don't have time for it anymore. I have two kids, an academic career, and a band to fill my time, so often single tracks it is. Every once in a while, I can get through an album during a Saturday clean or something but usually I have kids crawling all over me if I'm not off being productive. My peace time is right now, when the wife is putting the kids down and usually I'm ready for silence.

My bandmates want to do concept albums; but I'm a little wary that it will diminish our potential market because "kids these days" and attention spans.

When I decide I want to listen to a band I listen to one of their albums, but I almost always take the songs I like and only listen to those songs after that. I seldom listen to the full album again unless every song is good, like Viva La Vida and Hot Rats.

It depends on what I'm listening to. If I'm feeling poppy, I'm not about to sit down and listen to Bangerz from start to finish, because it isn't a cohesive unit. With most other records, I am more about listening to the whole piece, because it was made to be consumed in that format, and lends itself well to said format.

Definitely take it in phases. Sometimes I'll go weeks worshiping the almighty shuffle, then weeks doing whole albums at a time. If I'm checking out some new material, always the full album.

90% of the time I'll start with the first song on an album and go the whole way through. I like to take in albums as a cohesive piece of work, it's like only viewing the top left corner of a painting to me. There are occasionally instances where I only like one or two songs on an album and I might listen to those, but not often.
