Wow! I love both bands. I am more of a fan of the Cure's early repertoire....but Disintegration...damn good album.

Big mouth strikes again, and There is a light that never goes out, vs Love Song & Prayers for Rain.

I'll have to take a rain cheque until I can find the time to sit down and listen to Disintegration again.

Frankly Mr Shankly is one of my favorite songs ever (not joking)

I enjoy both albums equally.

Smiths- Some girls are Bigger then others, There is a light, cemetry gates, big mouth, boy with a thorn in his side, and I know its over.

Cure- Lullaby, Fascination street, pictures of you, love song, home sick, prayers for rain.

If I had to choose one song off of either it would be I know its over by the Smiths. That song used to resonate to me alot back when I was going through my failed relationship. Morrisey killed it on those vocals and I really enjoy the subdued guitar work by Marr, hes certainly one of the best early 80's uk guitar players by a longshot.

I take that's a vote for The Queen is Dead

Add another, Disintegration is a great album especially when you've had a bad break up, but overall I find Robert Smith to be too wheepy on this one.

The Queen is Dead, however is melancholy with a lot of good lifts, and features some great songwriting by both Morrissey and Marr throughout. So...The Queen is Dead

Disintegration 4
Queen is Dead 4 (counting Yorkedaddy)

I love both albums as well, but I feel like 'Disintegration' is more consistent. I also don't think it's just good for bad break ups, its great whenever you're feeling a bit under the weather, whether its due to loneliness, rejection, failure, or just general depression. Robert Smith's lyrics can be easily interpreted to any situation. While the feelings of The Queen is Dead are also really relateable, the lyrics are usually much more specific. Morrissey is a very intricate and practiced writer and he wouldn't be writing a song if he didn't know exactly what he was writing about. Still, songs like There Is A Light, I Know It's Over, Bigmouth Strikes Again, and Some Girls are Bigger than Others are absolutely terrific. I almost think that Louder than Bombs is better than TQID, but that's a different debate entirely.

Anyway, I'm a vote for Disintegration. :)

well for consistency I'll go with my vote, but these are two powerhouse albums so Disintegration it is...

Disintegration 5
Queen is Dead 4

normally would not participate in this kind of thing but definitely Disintegration

Cure: 6
Smiths: 4

The Queen Is Dead, but only because there are albums I like better than Disintegration. If the choice was Pornography or The Head On The Door I'd have a harder time choosing.

Disintegration 6
Queen is Dead 5

Another vote for Disintegration, although there are better Cure albums in my opinion.
