If the music calls for it, sure. I suppose I could've articulated better. When "fast" is the apparent goal - not the tune, music, idea, or line. Trying to cram in as many notes as possible, as fast as possible as a goal, without regard what those notes are / how they fit in context.

There's a whole genre built around playing fast for the sake of it. The music definitely calls for it then.
