The Official Music Banter Members Journals Survey 2014

I'm sure gasps of surprise and dismay completely failed to greet the fact that my first thread on my return would be concerning the "J-word", but I hope everyone will take part in this. It's important, I feel, that we gain a sense of what people want, if anything, from our journals and how we can improve them. Even if you just click the link and hit NO at the first question, please do take part because it's just as important that we know why people are NOT reading as why they are. Preferably, if you can, tell us the reason(s) why you don't read journals.

There are some great journals here, of that there is no doubt, and many people put hours at a time into making them the best they possibly can, while others lumber on blindly, crashing through the darkened streets like drunken broken-down out of control zomb --- hey! Why are you all looking at me like that? :shycouch: (Yes, the shycouch icon is back!) Anyway, if improvement is needed (and when is it not?) then we need to get an idea of how to do that, and if something isn't working we need to be told about it.

If we get enough proper responses I will after a time tabulate the results and provide to anyone who wants or needs it --- journal authors mostly I would assume --- a report on what the data we have collected tells us.

I have done my best, having been out of touch for three months and therefore missed a lot of new journals, to include all current journals, plus some classic ones, but I have had to limit it at some point. So any journal not updated since before June has not been included, but you can of course always add it as your "Other" option if you so wish. If anyone would like their journal added, please let me know and I will amend the survey.

Also, if a mod could sticky this (I don't know if it should be here but I think it's a good place to start; move it if you wish but not to the journals section please, as that will defeat the purpose) I would be grateful.

Thanks and hope you all participate!

Oh yeah: before anyone says it, this is NOT an exercise in smugness nor a popularity contest. There's no ranking of the journals or anything. I simply want to try, for what I believe is the first time in the history of Music Banter, to get a feel for who's reading, what they're reading, who's not and how we can make things better. It won't take more than a few minutes of your time, so please click the link. Muchos gracias!

PS This is my first online survey so if something isn't working please let me know and I'll get right on it. Also if you have any ideas for extra questions, or responses to existing ones, I'm happy to listen.

Two pages of survey? Oh my god, no

Done. I hope you appreciate my invaluable input. So, does this mean you're going to be doing the Journal Update thread again?

Pet_Sounds 09-01-2014 07:18 PM

Have completed. Smartly done.

I completed it as well. I enjoyed this.

CoNtrivedNiHilism 09-01-2014 10:26 PM

Done!

I think my journal not being on the list is something that makes sense. I just established it and it only has three entries. The next time this is done. I will have loads upon loads of entries!

The Batlord 09-01-2014 10:35 PM

Actually I'm pretty sure it was on the list.

Jacking it in? rofl.
You irish folk and your sayings.

Anyway, I completed it, even though I'm an amateur 'journalist'.

If you're going to interview me then just remember that I can have you killed, so anything you print better either make me money or get me laid.

Top idea. Survey completed.
