Hey guys I'm supposed to be putting together a finance presentation for tomorrow, but f*c% that. This is a competition because why not?

Idea:
Each entrant fills out the form provided below to create a fantasy band of (up to) 6 members (dead or alive). After... a week let's say... I'll set up a poll on this thread and people can vote for the band entry that they like the most.

Rules:
- No fictional characters, only real people who actually existed and played music (or their performance personas)
- For any given band that did exist, you can't have more than 2 members from that band in your fantasy band.

Bonus for any extra writing or background for your fictional band that you want to include.

BAND NAME: Welfare

Background story: Coming together in the late 70s and ushering in a sound perhaps more fitting for the 80s, Welfare brought together the droning baritone vocals of Ian Curtis, the funk and jazz bass lines of Jaco, the quiet tidal guitar of Keaton Henson, and the mad percussion of Ginger Baker into two 10 song albums, one in '77 and one in '78.

I imagine this band would be a lot of tracks with rich bass parts serving as weird melody, but full of weird harmonies like Jaco's Portrait of Tracy and complimented by Henson's beautiful guitar playing. Behind that you'd have Ginger baker just going mad hatter, beating the crap out of some old drum set, but retaining heavy jazz influence while still managing to add enough rough and abrasive character to make Ian Curtis's vocals fit. Lots of juxtaposition and weird tension between the funk and post-punk and jazz and classic rock influences.

The band would end up breaking up because Ginger Baker is crazy and Ian Curtis is suicidal and Jaco also has problems... but I love them all still. They would really never perform live because it would be too difficult to get the volume mixing write between Jaco's relatively quite bass, and the energy of Ginger's drums outside of a recording setting, let alone adding Ian Curtis, which would also be fine by Henson because of his stage fright.

In reality this band would be a disaster, but this is fantasy land so suspend your disbelief. :p

People often forget this, but the whole reason Dave Lombardo quit Slayer the first time was to form this band with Elvis, whom he had recently met at a massage parlor. It just so happened they also found Kenny G there as well, hanging out in the back room playing a duet with a Soothing Sounds of Nature CD. Their unique blend of thrash, smooth jazz and rockabilly immediately won critics over, though they had a highly publicized legal dispute with the PMRC over some of Elvis' lyrical content. Let's just say the people of the 1950s certainly wouldn't have been ready for his tales of inter-cousin love affairs and leave it at that. Nevertheless, they released three classic albums before flaming out in the early 00s with a very public spat caused by Kenny G's ongoing meth problems.

Background story:
Some time in the future, a brilliant scientist managed to clone these singer-songwriters. His idea was to have an all-acoustic guitar band, which would perform the six's greatest hits. However, it failed due to the fact that none of the clones wanted to perform the others' songs. They ended up releasing one single, which consisted of each guy performing one of his own songs, all at the same time. Surprisingly, it was a smash hit, and a follow-up was planned. However, between recording sessions, Dylan had found Jesus, Simon had been jailed for domestic abuse, McLean had taken to the bottle, Taylor had discovered Eastern religion, and Denver had left on a jet plane. Lightfoot was available, but insisted on including introspective commentary between each track. The project was scrapped.

Background story: During the late 70's Django moved to America to pursue a career in the american music industry, in the 80's while looking for backup musicians he spotted 2 musicians from 2 rising alternative bands he tought fitted the sound he was looking for.

During this time he met Satomi who was a big fan of his work and through her he met Steve who was a drummer from a local noise band.

Eventually Django invited all these musicians for a jam session and soon after that they became 'The gypsies'
