What`s the point of being a musician if you only buy the songs you`re singing
Am I the only one who noticed that music has changed a lot ? I mean, 5 years ago I think, there were many artists who were writing their own songs based on real feelings and on something that the listener could understand . That was the music that actually introduced you in artistic areas !! Now, most of the times, I hear on the radio only electro/house music which sounds like : " Eh, eh, eh. ( x3 ) .. oh oh oh ( x7 ) .. ( instrumental break )... eh eh eh ( x10 ) AND THAT`S ACTUALLY THE WHOLE SONG ! Someone please, kill me right now .. -.- So, I`m getting back at the tittle . A musician is caracterized by creativity. Well, I can`t see any creativity in singing another person`s song ( even if you bought it, it`s not actually your work ! ) . Soooo, let`s talk about it :)

Wow. I don't think I've ever seen a "Modern Music Sucks" thread with the cutoff at five years. They're getting more open-minded.

Uuuhm, this has happened in like, all eras.
Plus, some pretty much just did covers, like Elvis Presly or The Specials. |
You're right, Twist and Shout, All Along the Watchtower, and Thriller! are all ****e.

Dear oh dear. Another person (if not trolling) makes the mistake of lumping all music together. Of course some of it is ****, but there is some very good, original, decent music being written and some great songwriters. You just have to look for them. It doesn't all start and end with the radio and the charts, you know!

I doubt they're trolling. A lot of people just seem to exist that don't care enough to dig past the radio but care enough to rant blindly about how modern music sucks based off the radio. I'm guessing that's an endless cycle here...
Or they're simply not very educated on how to find the music they want to hear. It's really not that hard, actually. There is such an abundance of great music out there that I'll never hear and I'm always finding more and more. My backlog at this point is never going to end. I'd agree that the extremely popular chart topping radio stuff I tend to dislike. Not always of course. The point is that to generalize all music based off chart topping stuff that is being marketed to a certain kind of group is pretty stupid. Not everybody listens to music for quality or really cares that much. I doubt the radio is very often going to be a useful resource for someone who has an extensive musical interest. Everybody pretty much knows that. If you would like to find good music the question you should be asking is, "What are some valuable resources I can use to help me dig and find better music that I'll enjoy?" |
Go to a record shop and ask for recommendations.
