Intense jazz? Okay.

Peter Brötzmann Octet - The Complete Machine Gun Sessions
Manfred Schoof - European Echoes
Zu - Carboniferous
The Thing - Bag It!
Naked City - Torture Garden
Lean Left - Live at Cafe Oto

Those first two albums are the most violent records ever made.

Billy's no slouch either. An old friend who unfortunately passed away a few years back was at one of these shows in Central Park.

He said is was really hot and muggy and Cobham's roadie would come up between songs and douse him with a bucket of water to help him cool off.

Cobham was the first absolute monster drummer to come across my radar way back.

^^Pretty slick stuff.^^

Unmistakable style. I first sought him out after hearing Stratus on an old Guitar Center radio ad. Terry Bozzio is another. I saw him on the Jeff Beck Guitar Shop tour where SRV opened up the show. SRV killed, and Beck was awesome, but I was really impressed with the guy on the drums for Becks set, which I found out later he was from Zappa, and Missing Persons with his hot but freak of a wife.

I'd probably recommend some Blacklight Syndrome to the OP too. A little taste of some obscure fusion.

Alternative Hip-hop

Hi,

I'm a female lyricist who is creating a genre of music called alternative hip-hop which is a fusion of multiple genres including rock, pop, country, etc to make an interesting sound. My music embodies substance, evokes emotion, and is profanity free. Take a look at one of my singles, entitled Superman. You can search Superman-Teejay Johnson Ft Luke Rhodes on youtube. I'm looking forward to your feedback.

First off no promotion on here, secondly alt. hip-hop is already a huge thing, thirdly no.

The thread was made to introduce new genres to the original poster, correct? So if I suggest that he listens to someone else, isn't that promotion?

And yes alterntative hip-hop is a category, but I'm trying to redefine it. To revitalize it.

Also, I guarantee you didn't even listen to the song. And for you to come off so rude is just unnecessary. All I was trying to do was what the original post asked, to suggest new genres.

I listened to it. But the only way I'm going to tell you what I thought of it is if you listen to this entire album and then give me a five thousand word review. Chop chop.

If your ever looking for a good laugh, throw on some Hick Hop (Country Rap).

Teejay 12-20-2014 04:48 PM

I'll listen to a song, because I enjoy supporting others but I will not listen to an entire album. But thanks for listening to it, I appreciate that.
