Have you ever got tired of these top-chart songs?

I am in China and I like listening to music made from other parts of the world. But it seems that the only source I know the "good" music is these from top-charts. But honestly speaking, I got a little tired of these top-chart pop songs. S o I wonder do you have any other sources for recommending some good but not popular songs (like these high-quality non-mainstream songs). Thanks in advance.;)

Last.FM has a tool that tracks what music you listen to and gives reccomendations based on that. You can also look up an artist on their website and click "similar artists" to find artists you might like too.

Plug.dj is a website where people can listen to music together by playing songs.

Just browsing youtube and spotify can lead to new music. Look at youtube's related videos and use spotify's reccomendations.

Rateyourmusic has charts you can view, also by genre. They also have user made lists.

The Needle Drop is a youube review channel that made me discover some newer music.

Lastly, we on thiws forum can always give you recomendations.
It would help to know what type of music you'd like reccomendations of though.

I don't wish to be facetious but I know China have banned many websites/services online, so perhaps you might advise us as to which, if any, of the ones mentioned are allowed there?

But as Dylstew says, getting involved here is the best option really. People here are more than willing to share their knowledge and love of music, and give you recommendations, once we know what sort of music you like.

Edit: Also check this thread http://www.musicbanter.com/general-m...new-music.html

thanks so much. Sorry for late replying cuz there is no notifications tell me that I have got reply.:banghead: The channels you recommended are very good, but sometimes I just do not know how to find it, like youtube, I know there are lots of new music there, but I just do not know how to find them. Besides, I am not the kind of person who has crush on certain type of music. I like to listen to music based on my mood. For instance, recently, I am suffering from insomnia and heartbroken relationship, so I want to listen to some songs that can make my heart peaceful.

PS: what music app do you often use? Sometimes, maybe app is more convenient.

If they allow Spotify there, I'd go for that. I use that a lot. Also check out music vendor websites like Download mp3 music from megaboon.com. Albums for a dollar and you can check them out beforehand (60 sec preview). If you have access to filehosting sites like Zippyshare, Mediafire etc I can load some stuff up for you if you give me an idea what sort of music you would like to explore...

^ I´m sorry to hear that you have been unlucky in love. When I once had a similar problem, I used to listen to the soundtrack of the movie, "Paris, Texas" night after night. It seemed to help me, so perhaps it would be soothing for you too :-
