I'm not sure you can really call it a rising genre. It's been around for a while and is the latest in a long list of genres that make it their business to be impenetrable and hard to google in order to maintain word-of-mouth fanbases as opposed to last.fm trawling hipsters.

In so doing that makes it basically the most hipster thing ever.

It's not really got a potential mainstream future. It never did. It has no interest in "rising". It just is what it is.

I've never extensively listened to Vaporwave, and I don't plan on it, but I've always loved this mash-up

You need to drop the https://www.youtube.com/watch?v= part and it will work then. At the moment, just a big white square.
