Relaxing Music

Inspired by a post of Chula Vista's in "What are you listening to" or somesuch. Post any songs or pieces that are good to relax, kick back, even fall asleep to.

Literally nothing I've ever heard is more relaxing than Nujabes.

EPOCH6 02-26-2015 05:56 PM

This entire album is an overdose of audio euphoria. One of my all time favorites.

Chula Vista 02-26-2015 06:02 PM

Jon Anderson - Olias of Sunhillow

Brian Eno - Ambient I: Music for Airports
William Basinski - The Disintegration Loops
Anything by the Caretaker. Persistent Repetition of Phrases, An Empty Bliss Across This World, and Patience (After Sebald)
John Cage - A String Quartet in Four Parts
Four
But what about the noise of crumpling paper which he used to do in order to paint the series of "Papiers froisses" or tearing up paper to make "Papiers dechires?" Arp was stimulated by water (sea, lake, and flowing waters like rivers), forests
Branches

That's all I can think of for now.

Chula Vista 02-26-2015 06:33 PM

John Cage's 4'33 is really easy to sleep through.

Overcast 02-26-2015 07:07 PM

I strongly recommend Grouper, Boards of Canada, The Caretaker/Leyland Kirby and Aphex Twin for sleeping.

Spoiler for Some of my favorites, a bit much:

Moonlit Sailor is where it's at for me:

Simon and Garfunkel, of course!

The musical equivalent of Linus Van Pelt's security blanket.

Chula Vista 02-26-2015 08:41 PM

Pet, you're slipping man.

I have the whole double disc collection of Main—Hz. Great textural stuff that I spent many night drifting off to back in college. A sample:

Serves me right for leaving my phone at my dad's. I've been posting on an eReader all week. :D

Hi ... I find these to be pretty sleep inducing.

Ninetales 02-26-2015 11:19 PM

well this is my niche.

^for the above, Cold Body Radiation is great but that's from their worst album imo. would try Fauna if you haven't heard them already. The Hunt or Rain are astounding records, but maybe not "relaxing" for everyone. quite brooding really.

for those that don't know me this is my favorite piece of music of all time, and it is also my go to album to sleep to. its meditative and cerebral and peaceful and intense. I often associate it with both living and dying. its that powerful.

this is the first half if it interests anyone.

now that ive started listening to it I cant stop so ill be back later with more.

For the people out there that like Hip-hop/Rap but want something quiet every now and then I highly recommend Derlee on Soundcloud or YouTube. Genre of music is classed as Hip-hop/Melodic/Chillstep.

Chula Vista 08-15-2015 09:08 AM

Roxy Music - Avalon

Exo 08-15-2015 06:02 PM

I don't care that you don't like them. I love this album.

This whole record got me through my brothers death.
