Album Most Listened To?

What single album have you spent the most time listening to?

Here's mine... It never gets old.

Frownland 03-26-2015 04:28 PM

This is going to shock everyone on here, but mine is Captain Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica. I listened to it in full at least once a day for one or two years.

I'm actually listening to it right now.

Plainview 03-26-2015 04:36 PM

Probably Revolver for me. I mean it's my favourite album and is effortlessly listenable and always satisfying. Other than that? In a Silent Way by Miles Davis never gets old, so atmospheric and ambient.

Nameless 03-26-2015 04:42 PM

Dowsing Anemone with Copper Tongue by Kayo Dot. Never gets old.

Good stuff.

@Goof/York - what do the numbers represent?

Goofle 03-26-2015 05:57 PM

Individual track plays. Not full album listens.

EPOCH6 03-26-2015 06:00 PM

Hard to say how accurate my scrobbles are since I kind of stopped using Last FM when I stopped using iPods after highschool.

Top ten
TMR
Fantômas - Fantômas
Billy Woods - History Will Absolve Me
Madvillain - Madvillainy
Tom Waits - Rain Dogs
The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico
This Heat - Deceit
Albert Ayler - Holy Ghost
Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band - Lick My Decals Off, Baby
Zu - Carboniferous

But TMR has more plays than numbers 2-4 combined so that definitely takes the lead if you weren't sure. Fantômas is a bit of a misnomer because most of the tracks on that album are less than 1:30.

I'm amazed that people are able to answer this. I have no idea. I can think of different albums I've listened to a lot at different times in my life but I can't think of one that stands out above the others. I don't think I could even think I could do a top ten.

I did mine based on last.fm plays but I imagine you listened to quite a chunk of music before you started using that. Apart from no. 1 I'd probably be in the same boat as you.

I mean there's also the fact that I'm like half your age and have only been listening to music this deeply for 5 years or something

Heh. Yeah, I don't think I started actually scrobbling until about 2010 and its never worked with the iPhone I got in 2012, which is my main thing I listen to music on. So I have an accurate snapshot of what I was listening to from 2010-2012 and then random scrobbles from my laptop since then. So everything I listened to in my pre-teens, teens, twenties and early thirties isn't part of the equation.

Key 03-26-2015 06:45 PM

I bet nobody could possibly imagine what mine is.

If I exclude Last FMs charts it would probably still be Wolfbrigade's Prey to the World, which is kind of funny considering it's not even that incredible of an album, just something about it really embodied the kind of music I was looking for in highschool. Listened to it front to back (considering it's probably only half an hour long) damn near every weekday morning for a year straight. Listening to it right now for the first time in probably half a year and I'm getting pretty pumped, still seems to have the same charm on me it used to. Just a ****ing ferocious album, every track rips so hard.

However, when it comes to an album that has remained in constant rotation for a much longer period of time, I've been listening to Boards of Canada's The Campfire Headphase probably at least a couple of times a month since early 2011.

Mr. Red 03-27-2015 03:43 AM

London Calling
Trout Mask Replica

both albums are very long and there are many songs to choose from

Mister Mushroom 03-27-2015 04:18 AM

I've only been using my Last.FM since October of last year, but...

Pet_Sounds 03-27-2015 04:26 AM

<----That's still the one, with The Stranger and Abbey Road probably tied for second.

Moss 03-27-2015 05:13 AM

Probably Pink Floyd - Animals

ribbons 03-27-2015 01:44 PM

George Harrison's All Things Must Pass has definitely been the most-played album throughout my life.

Isbjørn 03-27-2015 01:53 PM

Since I got my new Last.fm account:

Spoiler for huge pic gonna blow ya away:

But that's just since November last year. I've no idea what album I've listened to the most overall.
