Do drugs ever help people appreciate music?

So, I was curious about this. I'm pretty square when it comes to the whole mind altering substance thing, but I wanted to know if anyone thinks they might appreciate/enjoy a piece of music more due to a substance.

Thoughts?

I have no experience with drugs but I do remember being told once that Neil Young and (maybe) David Crosby --- Young certainly --- came to their manager with what they said was the greatest ever song they had written. It was just fabulous. He would not believe it they said. He played it and all it was was Young hitting a cowbell for several minutes while they both giggled insanely.

Yup: they had been high when recording this "amazing music".. !
Or, to illustrate it the Seth MacFarlane way...

To be fair, that sounds like something Frownland would do.

Some of the greatest experiences of my musical life have been on lsd, x, or mushies. Letting the speakers engulf you and wrap you in a shroud of sound. Not only is that one of the 7 wonders of the world to me, but it forever alters the way you hear music, I get flashbacks from certain songs, I get chills, and I also get overwhelmed emotionally. It's ****ing amazing. To this day I love a good acid flash back.

Which of course discounts all of the countless other actually good songs that have been made under the influence of drugs. I don't know much about the drug habits of prog bands, but I imagine that for the guy in Genesis to dress up like a flower on stage, substance assistance was probably part of his creative process.

If you are indeed black as you claim, then I imagine you have a lot of junk.

It's a really sick bong though, I'll take it off your hands if you don't want it.
