I like listening to New Order in the background. Something with a drum machine would work too, like Smashing Pumpkins' Adore.

I find movie scores are good to play in the background. I won't play a score that will pump me up though, like Bloodsport, or Young Guns. Try something like the Crow, First Blood, Bourne Identity.

There's always the classic "lofi beats to relax/study to".

I used to listen to the Bourne Identity soundtrack while studying. Made me feel like a badass.

Hooray ! But even this level of classical music can give the inexperienced mental indigestion. Me, I love your suggestion but remember, in today’s world of 1 min 43 sec ’tunes' that’s another planet.
Anyhow, I’d love to hear back from the original poster what they thought of your recommendation.

For old farts in their dotage like me could you translate ‘badass’ ?
There must be a dictionary somewhere on line that specialises in new additions and alterations to English expression. I can’t keep up with it.
