Post a song to the musical taste of the member above you

Based on how well you know them, post a song that either they would post if it was them, or that they would be sure to enjoy. Note: this is not a recommendation thread; don't post songs you like that you want to get the member to like; post ones you're pretty sure they're into. It's more a challenge to see how well you know people here.

Also, songs only: no stupid videos of guys saying "boring", "****" etc.

Nobody will have any trouble posting a song I like, but what happens when Goofle posts, eh? ;)

Key 07-16-2015 11:24 AM

I think we have a "recommend a song to the person above you" thread. In fact, I know we do.

Found it.

Lawl at nobody listening to a word I'm saying. Guess the search function is pointless then.

Kind of a similar concept but we already have this kind of thread:

Continue in here if you consider them to be different enough though.

Gonna echo this from this:

Ki, read the OP man. This is NOT a rec thread. Not. It is one where you post a song that accurately reflects the taste of the member above you. Completely different. OK? Not a recommendation thread. I even went to great pains to point that out in the OP.

Also, for you Frown, think this is something you would listen to

Uh, oh yeah. It even say's so in the OP.

Ok, so do me.

Oriphiel 07-16-2015 12:31 PM

How'd I do, Plank?

Sorry, but nope. That was a bit long, and kinda boring. Nice try though, but I'm really not much of a jam band kinda guy. Here's my latest mix of things for some reference:

Here's one for Ori:

Frownland 07-16-2015 01:09 PM

I loved that one, Trollheart.

Plank, I figure you're a fan of Joe Pass but if not you're welcome.

Trollheart 07-16-2015 01:13 PM

For Plank, some guitar goodness

For Ori, well I known next to nothing about garage rock, but I'm willing to bet you listen to the odd Blondie track so

Ki, I could go the path of least resistance and give you some Devin, but I know you like Theocracy so

and this is for you Yorkie

I used to be a fan of stuff like this, but lately it just bores me. Wes Montgomery still gets me going though.

Gonna have to be a nope on this one. Valiant effort though Mr Frown of the Land.

Trollheart 07-16-2015 01:22 PM

Mr Plankton is turning out to be hard to please...
Oh, and of course it's a good idea to say whether or not you dug the song that was posted for you.

I loved the Starcastle one, Frown. Glad you liked TLO: assumed they'd be right up your boulevard.

 I posted up the cheesiest prog I could think of. Of course you loved it. Not a fan of it all, please don't make such offensive assumptions. I do like when they rip off Yes's vocals but that's about it.

I was referring to Tape Loop Orchestra?

Oriphiel 07-16-2015 01:26 PM

Hey Plank, I'll try again:

Nope on this one too. I like some Moore, but some of his stuff is just too cheesy for me, such as this. The vocals killed it.

It appears so, doesn't it.

Trollheart 07-16-2015 01:31 PM

Hmm. Something different then?

Edit: everybody get Plankton! :D

Edit edit: I'm listening to this song now for about the tenth time and if you, as a guitar virtuoso, don't love it I'm done with ya! ;)

Frownland 07-16-2015 01:34 PM

Hmm. Taking a big chance but you've been very receptive of my metal taste Plank.

My bad. Everything else in that sentence still stands.

For you, maybe this?

Tragic what happened to Cave's son.

Ugh, no. Can't stand the 80's disco era.

My WMP capture was probably misleading. For some more reference, I've been wearing out some Faith No More, Steve Vai, and Johnny Cash. I really want to like the songs your posting, but it's just not happening.

Well, we're done then. That was boring.

This:

Loves me some funk. It's been a while.

Frownland 07-16-2015 01:52 PM

Love you some funk? Why didn't you say so?

As far as Gorguts goes, I'm too blinded by fanboyism to think anyone who's into metal wouldn't like it. But like I said, I was taking a huge chance.

Oriphiel 07-16-2015 01:52 PM

Three for Frownland, since I skipped you a bunch of times:

Spoiler for :):

Edit: And I forgot Trollheart! I'll just put one song, since I've posted like a billion already.

Frownland 07-16-2015 02:14 PM

I loved all of those mate. I think that the Edward Broughton one is the only one I'd post because I'm a huge fan already. I'll have to do a little more research to see if the first two can help me preserve my indie cred but I did like them both quite a fair bit.

Here's yours. I figured you'd dig garage rock + free jazz + baritone sax + awesome musicians.

Oriphiel 07-16-2015 02:36 PM

That was pretty sexy. The sax playing kinda reminded me of "Contort Yourself".

Whoever goes next, skip me.

Yeah well y'see that's unfair, cos how are we supposed to know you're into funk? Hell Plank, it's like I don't even know ya anymore...
:shycouch:

Ori,yes of course I love Lizzy and Frownland, that Cave was nice if a little samey. Not something I'd listen to often but then, Warren Ellis, y'know? Also what happened to Cave's son?

I assume you'll never turn down some Sunn O)))...

Frownland 07-16-2015 02:46 PM

That's my favourite Sunn O))) song. Caves son fell off of s cliff and died this week. Awful news, really.

Nick Cave's son Arthur dies in Brighton cliff fall - BBC News

Next person skip me.

Oriphiel 07-16-2015 03:29 PM

Trollheart, I've always assumed that you were a fan of early Genesis (I think I've seen you talk about them from time to time). Am I right?

Actually I believe Genesis began with Trespass; if you read my prog history journal you'd see I have quite a low opinion of their debut, sorry. There are only a few good songs on it, and that's not one of them.

Let me try this on you:

Oriphiel 07-16-2015 06:32 PM

The Cars are always great! I'm definitely a fan of New Wave. :yeah:

Whoever goes next, feel free to skip me.
