You've discovered my secret. "Batlord" is in fact a reference to "Bathory", cause "Bathory" kind of looks like "Batlord" in Old English font.

Seriously.

Well I felt it would be cliche. I thought it would be fun to rec their lesser recognized albums just to see what others think about them. If Horror enjoyed the best songs of Angles I am sure he will enjoy their debut.

How could they know when I discovered the origin if I've never told them about it?

Faith Hill - Cry

Honestly I got a little silly with this one. I'm in no way trying to make fun
of the record I'm basically just writting down my thoughts.

1. Free

Country music is so simple isn't it? I feel the lyrics for country music tend
to be the most simple. Maybe pop being a close second. It's a quitessential
jam. Good to open for all those 10 gallon hat wearing Mama's. I do like it
but, I'm sitting here thinking the album is going to be depressing as hell.
What a surprise this was. It's always good to be free and make people feel
like they are too. The clapping part is nice. Little bit over produced here.
We don't need the like, what is it three vocal tracks here Faith. Nice note
at the end there.
3 stars

2. Cry

I know this song well, I've sung it before. It's a rather perfect ballad.
Her control on the vocals is fantastic here. All I can think about though,
it the amazing music video. Goosebumps thinking about it. Where did Faith
Hill go anyway? Today's country is really trying too hard can I have more
of this please? I think country ballads really are my favorite for the genre.
5 stars

3. One

OH MY MRS HILL. Did TLC write this song? ... Is TLC singing this song? I
would never in 10 million years think this song would come out of Faith's
mouth. But, it's so good. So much soul. Yes, a perfect ammount of soul.
I'm kind of sitting here not know what the hell to say because, I guess I
didn't know Faith Hill that well. She's turning that red light on. This
song is just fantastic. This song, is awesome.
5 stars

4. When The Lights Go Down

OH hell YES. A piano ballad. Listening to this I'm wondering have I ever
heard a Faith Hill song other than Cry? Because, she's got a lot of great
material. I think I'll show this album to my boyfriend he'll love it. It's
a huge fan of country and I think he'd love this album just as much. It's a
simple song, a simple message but, SO POWERFUL.
5 stars

5. Beautiful

Some simple Spanish sounding guitar. I really didn't expect this album to be
so sultry. Maybe it's because, I didn't really see Faith as a grown woman at
a younger age. Nice little speaking part. This song reminds me of a Spice
Girls song I've heard before. I know, it might not have anything to do with
that but, they're really similar. Even the Spanish guitar. She's really
spilling it all out here. Though, I'm a little confused because, just a
second ago she cried and suddenly she's in love again. Maybe you should
take a breather there sunshine. Still it's a decent song.
4 stars

6. Unsaveable

Are we going to church now? Well, I wonder. Is that organ? I really love
the organ. Though I prefer it to be darker. The chorus is nice. Oh, wait.
Weren't you just madly in love? It's over already? Alright, well that aside
it's a really good song. Her powerful vocals. I like powerful vocals. A lil
bothered by the Oooo Oooo Ooo. It's not needed in every track. This part
where she belts out though, she's really going for it.
4.5 stars

7. Baby You Belong

... Is there two relationships here? Or, is she just constantly making up and
breaking up with someone. While, all of these songs are fantastic the whole
thing is half about breaking up and half about being madly in love. Is her
lover bi-polar? It's a pretty cliche song. Nothing to write home about but,
I like it enough.
3 stars

8. If You're Gonna Fly Away

Re-evaluate your relationship Faith seriously. Someone might be able to use
this to lift them up though. It's a good **** you world I'm gonna do me song.
Though, it sounds like it could have been sung on Britney's first album.
Which was a really solid pop album so, nothing wrong with that.
The NaNaNa is really nice. One of my favorite songs is Hey Jude.
If not my favorite song. I bet this song helped a lot of people hell, this whole CD.
4.5 stars

9. Stronger

I really hope this whole song is just an acoustic *Fingers crossed*. Damn it.
Well, so far it kind basically is. I'd love to hear it as an acoustic. Though
the chorus is really nice. This album is so empowering. Even though we don't
know it yet we both will be stronger. Really like that line there. A nice lil
guitar solo here. It closes just as it opened and it's perfect that way.
5 stars

10. If This Is The End

Alright at his point I give up on knowing where the hell she stands
relationship wise. There's someone else singing with her here. They're a good
pair that's for sure. I like how she's still the main vocal though. Not sure
who the man is. Let's take a look. Oh Tim McGraw. I do like his voice. This
is a wonderful ballad. The orchestra pairs well here. Among all the breakup
songs in this, this one feels like it's really the ending point.
5 stars

11. This Is Me

I really want to make a joke about her addictions but, pass. So she's saying
there's more to her than just a famous country singer but, being vauge about
it. My heart breaks for the homeless. Ok, I want to believe that but, why do
you need to say it? Well, I hope it's true. Alright, alright maybe I'm being
a little too hard on her. It's a good song. Least favorite. Do like when she
says celebrate who you are.
3 stars

12. Back To You

This has a strange rock sort of feel to it in the start. Pop rock at best
though. It's a good song, good enough. I perfer the focus on empowering.
I know there is people that eat this kind of thing up though. Maybe if, I
was a distance away from the person I love it would have more meaning.
It's about wanting to go back to someone you're not with anymore though
right? Alright, I like it.
3.5 stars

13. I Think I Will

Bollywood? Asian? Interesting. Not sure if it fits well. It's not bad. I
can't help thinking though, what is she even talking about? Some tracks on
this album feel like they could only matter to one certain person. Whoever
it is she's singing to. Around 2:20 is nice. I think it's a bridge.
3 stars

14. You're Still Here

I hope it ends on a ballad. Yes, it is and it's fantastic. This is where she
really thrives. She should stay away from trying so hard to impress with over
dressing her songs. This, this is beautiful. I don't even care who it is
about because, it's just hypnotizing.
5 stars

So, over all an album I at the start thought I'd give at least 4 stars turned
out to have some tracks I didn't really like. Still it's good. For the time
it came out for sure.

I'll give it 3.5 stars I think. It could have grasped the ideas better. I did
however think over all it did it's job.

@Horror: glad you were so impressed with the album. I was pretty blown away by it, as you mentioned, more or less expecting your standard Country/Pop crossover, but it has some great soul and even rock in it, and yes, "Stronger", the title track and "You're still here" are my favourites on it too. Let me know when I can throw another one your way, and great job.

I really loved that it had soul and rock. That was a really brave move in my opinion. Country stars back then especially, were put in a certain mold. The fact that she was like hey, I'm going to do a little bit of everything I enjoy is really cool.

Also, is she Taylor Swift's mom? Jokes... jokes.

And feel free to rec me another. I don't quite have a list of 10 yet and plan to at least get two done a day if not more.

Alright. So. At first listen I really didn't like this at all.
Like I've said before I really dislike it when I can't understand the
lyrics. And, I even looked up the lyrics. Still lost.

Then I decided maybe, if I focus on it as a whole, maybe if I try to do
that it'll be more interesting.

A Sunny Day In Glasgow - Sea Went Absent

1. Byebye, Big Ocean (The End)

Well then, I kind of feel like I'm listening to someone echo off of the
walls all around me. The music itself is amazing. So cheerful, really I
like it. Though, I almost wish there wasn't anyone singing. Is that odd
at all? I decided to listen to this track twice and it's growing on me.
Sometimes it takes more than one listen to grasp what a song is all
about. With songs like these all I can think of is speeding colors like
acid trips. People partying but, it's all in fast forward. It's a good
feeling. A great way to open. I also already find it stuck in my head.
4.5 stars

2. In Love With Useless

Were those breaks meant to be there or are, oh I think my headphones
just died. Well, oh there are breaks though. Interesting. I can hear
the lyrics in this one. This band is really beach-y. Makes sense why
they have a palm tree for their cover. Antipsychotics sink to the
bottom. Think of it death as something. Damn, well, that's not as beach
pop as I thought. Antipsychotics are actually rather nice. Everything
just kind of goes blank. This band is starting to grow on me. I really
like songs that sound happy but, aren't so happy.
5 stars

3. Crushin'

Can't find the lyrics for this anywhere to save my life. This one is a
lot more mellow. I like all the elements. Not sure if I'm really into
this one though. Maybe it's because, coming off of the first two tracks
it's like being on a hyper trip and then the crash after. It's alright.
Not as interesting.
3 stars

4. MTLOV

I'm not really sure a first listen for this CD really works for a
review. It just has so much going on. Maybe it's that I've never heard
something quite like this. My first thought is it's too much. Then I
find myself liking it more as I listen. This track is nice. It's not
amazing but, it's likable. Again, it doesn't help I can't understand
the singer that well. The music outside of the lyrics is really good.
But, that's not the whole song is it?
3 stars

5. The Things They Do To Me

Nice bass building up. I hope this goes somewhere else because, it
really sounds similar to the previous song. Not every song needs to
echo. Or is that kind of their thing? I like how it's kind of
deconstructing though. Warping, and changing. Does this band do a lot
of drugs? That's all I can wonder. I like this part at the end.
3 stars

6. Boys Turn Into Girls

That's an interesting title. Makes me wonder what the song is about.
If you know what it's about please, let me know. I like this one a lot
more than the last two. It's more simple. The lyrics are clear. All I
can think about is transgender because, of the title. This part around
2:22-ish is really cool. Really psychadelic type of stuff.
4.5 stars

7. Never Nothing

I like the vocals here. They're different, more soothing. I'm really
kind of just feeling it so it's hard to talk about it.
5 stars

8. Double Dutch

First of all I love how this makes me feel like I'm playing double
dutch with someone. With the clapping and such. It's really a cool
little touch. I have to wonder why it's here though? And... then she
lost her mind at the end.
4 stars

9. The Body, It Bends

Good, I'm kind of understand what this song is all about. I really wish
this band would stick to having these nice clear vocals. It makes the
song have so much more meaning when I know what it's saying. Though,
with this band I'm not really that mad. Awesome trumpet.
4 stars

10. Oh, I'm a Wrecker

Come on now, we love you and that's all there really is to hear?
I wonder if that's for a friend. Not enjoying the part where it got
kind of weird but, it didn't last long. This is another track that is
just kind of what this band does. I like the chorus a lot. The part
near the end have it an extra little boost.
4 stars

11. Golden Waves

Really cool. Different. I'm really enjoying this band as a whole. It's
so out of my comfort zone but, hey isn't that how we expand? Maybe,
not completely since there's a female singer but, still. I actually
the layers in the chorus. If I thought about it, all the layers would
be like waves of voices going inside of my ears. So good!
4.5 stars

Wow! I feel like I went on a trip full of sounds and colors. This album
was really fantastic. When I sat down and let it all sink in, I really
just had a good time listening to it. The title track and second track
being my favorite but, the band tried so many different things.

I have to give this full album 4 stars all together. Thanks for the rec
