Tinnitus and music.

Hello folks, I was wondering if any of you here suffered from tinnitus and would be interested in taking part in a survey I have compiled as part of a university research project.

It's an interesting subject and would appreciate any input.

Hope to hear from you soon,

Charlie.

I'm beginning to notice it now. My wife also says my hearing is getting worse, so, I'm sure it goes hand in hand.

I've played in rock bands since I was 16 and I'm 56 now. My uncle and my mother both wear hearing aids, so, I guess I'm scr*wed.

^^ I presume you realise that tinnitus is not just hearing loss. It's a good deal more difficult to live with than plain simple hearing loss, from what I understand.

Tinnitus is ringing or hissing. I mentioned that "it goes hand in hand" with hearing loss.

I've begun to notice both, ringing or hissing, when I lie down to sleep at night. The classic symptoms.

I'm just experiencing the onset of Tinnitus, had it about a month now after I initially thought it was an ear infection.
It gets worse after I finish work (in a noisy warehouse environment) when it becomes quiet again at home where it becomes like a white noise or a low 'howl'. Not pleasant.
Listening to music in the car has a similar effect and that is potentially horrifying - that I may not be able to hear good music again someday!
I'm at the ENT clinic next week for a proper examination, we shall see.

I'll do the survey, where is it mate?

I've been suffering from tinnitus for almost a year. Some days are worse than others. I wonder whether you guys were lucky enough to find ways to reduce this annoying ringing. What works for you?

I've had Meniere's disease for about 4 yrs now with constant nonstop tinnitus. As of the last few months the ringing has been the worst, to the point I couldn't hear at all out of my right ear. The ringing is so loud it's truly driving me crazy. I've started to check a hearing aid store already and considering getting my first pair of hearing aids in the nearest future.

I've had tinnitus since ... forever. Even when I was a kid I would always notice a hissing in my ears at night when I went to bed, mostly my right ear. I didn't even know it was anything unusual until I was about 30, I thought it was just some hissing that everybody had in their ears, like your blood rushing through your ears, or something.
