Top 5 Legendary Concerts You've Attended
 

This can be 10 best concerts you've gone too as well, or just one. Pretty self-explanatory. If you'd like to mention a story you have from that concert(s) please do tell. I'm going to feel like the biggest tool if there's already a thread for this. THE TIME I PUT INTO IT!

10.) Courtney Barnett at Bonnaroo - 2015. First concert I ever crowd-surfed at, I was running on 35 straight hours no sleep. I'm surprised I live to tell the story, or remember it for that matter.



9.) Deafheaven at Bonnaroo - 2014. First real metal/post metal show I attended and I barely heard the frontman's vocals on account of the rest of the band being so fucking loud. each one of their 10 minute songs meshed into one another so it all sounded like one long track.



8.)The Gaslight Anthem at The House Of Blues - 2010. This was my first concert I'd ever attended, and suffice to say I immediately got into the groove of what live music actually means. I was big into The Gaslight at the time, The 59' Sound is still one of my favorite records and they just released American Slang which is another great album. It's special to me also because my brother drove me to it and I got to experience it with him.

7.)Arctic Monkeys at Bonnaroo - 2014. At this point in my life I never actually imagined seeing Arctic Monkeys, yet there I was in a great fucking spot behind some dude that literally passed out because of heat exhaustion and probably lack of hydration. It was probably the hottest day of the whole trip but somehow that made I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor even sweatier and memorable as humanly possible.



6.) Red Hot Chili Peppers at the Times Forum in Tampa - 2012. I'll admit, I had some shitty seats, but just the mere sight of Flea air thrusting his way to my heart was enough for me.



5.) The Flaming Lips at Bonnaroo - 2014. So. Much. Confetti.



4.) Kanye West at Bonnaroo - 2014. Lots of Bonnaroo shows I'm aware. You don't have to call me out on it. It's the only place I've been too where I've had the privilege of seeing a lot of my favorite bands/artists. Kanye. Fucking. West. Mr. 53 Million dollars in debt himself. He had a less than stellar stay at Bonnaroo in 2007 with that Pearl Jam debacle, but in 2014 for his Yeezus tour he totally slayed 60,000 people. The man can handle a crowd. Apart from Nike rants or whatever the fuck he was mad at that year, he literally made my eyes melt (probably cause I was on shrooms). WHERE DA PRESS AT



3.) My Morning Jacket at Bonnaroo - 2015. This really needs no talking about. It was one of the best nights of my life.

2.) D'Angelo & The Vanguard at Bonnaroo - 2015. For an hour and 15 minutes, I'm not going to lie I felt as black as the people on stage were. The energy, the soul, the fucking swag, the sex appeal. He even looked at me straight in the eye and I played it so cool, it was an amazing moment and probably the best thing that happened to me last year.

1.) Cloud Nothings at Bonnaroo - 2014. This was legendary. This should be up there with one of the best performances of the last 10 years. The energy was unprecedented, the moshing was stupendously insane (Okay maybe not Slayer material moshing, cause anyone who doesn't almost die at a Slayer gig isn't doing it right, but damn close). I'm happy to say though my friend and I created what turned out to be an endless mosh pit for that hour and a half. Best. Show. I've yet. To. See.

I'm jealous of every single one of those shows, Deafheaven, Yeezy, and Cloud Nothings in particular.

The most memorable show I've been to was Mastodon and Judas Priest last year. Mastodon was fantastic but they played Once More 'Round the Sun almost exclusively which was kind of disappointing. And then Priest slayed (obviously.)

Me too. Simply for the fact that I really wanna experience Bonnaroo. But Kanye<3 and The Gaslight for sure. Ikhyd.

The most memorable one for me would have to be Tool during their 10,000 Days tour a few years back. It was a close call for tickets because I had to stay on the phone for almost 5 hours until I got put through to the ticket holder to purchase tickets. The show was amazing and it's one I'll never forget.

Honorable mention goes to Judas Priest. I got the tickets for free and they put on a fantastic show. Would love to see them again.

5. Jandek - The Echoplex (2014) - I got to see ****ing Jandek.

3. Unknown band - saw these guys at a jazz club and they blew everyone's minds. It was as if Coltrane had reimagined Bitches Brew. Old ladies were dancing on the tables, there were jugglers, it was great. Astounding drummer.

2. The Magic Band - Got to see my favourite songs live when Rockette Morton was still touring with them (he's had heart complications these past few years so he's off the road now). They nailed it and I met Eric Drew Feldman in the audience, who did the synths and pianos on Shiny Beast (Bat Chain Puller) and Doc at the Radar Station.

1. Acid Mothers Temple - They put on such a brilliant performance, but what really made this memorable was that I was on too many drugs and passed out and pissed myself during a very intense rendition of Pink Lady Lemonade.

Siouxsie & the Banshees (Rocky Point Palladium, Rhode Island, 1992)
I'll never forget Budgie's elaborate drum set, Siouxsie marching around playing the accordion, and just how big and beautiful this music was live.

Bob Mould (Avalon, Boston, 1995)
Just one man and an acoustic guitar giving an incredibly high-energy performance. For an encore, he brought out the electric and ripped through a bunch of Hüsker Dü songs.

Mr. Bungle (Avalon, Boston, 1995)
Patton wore a condom on his head, I almost passed out in the pit, and the band was every bit as great as I imagined. "Desert Search for Techno Allah" was the highlight of the show. The opener, Melt Banana, were terrific as well.

Los Fabulosos Cadillacs (Paradise, Boston, 1999)
Nine or ten dudes on stage, including three drummers, in a fairly small venue. The whole crowd dancing and jumping up and down. Incredible.

Squirrel Nut Zippers (Roxy, Boston, 2000)
Just pure unbridled fun. The Charlie Hunter Trio opened and were also great.

Foetus (Empty Bottle, Chicago, 2001)
He stood right next to me during the opening band then jumped up on stage and blew my mind. I was amazed at how he was able to translate his very studio-centric sound to a very high energy live band.

Flaming Lips (Aragon, Chicago, New Year's Eve 2003)
They really pulled out all the stops for New Year's. Confetti and giant balloons and pure musical joy. At midnight they performed "Seven Nation Army" with their co-headliner The White Stripes and it was by far the best version of that song I've ever heard.

Man Man (Empty Bottle, Chicago, 2004)
I hadn't heard a single song by these guys before going to see them and they made me an instant fan. Just a wild and hairy good time.

Kodo (Kimmel Center, Philadelphia, 2013)
Absolutely the most incredible percussion I've seen live. So beautiful and primal it choked me up.

Ufomammut (Johnny Brenda's, Philadelphia, 2015)
Just three guys unleashing a wall of heavy, heavy doom that was absolutely perfect.

I grew up in Sheffield and got kinda sick of Arctic Monkeys, but there's something very cool about that gig in particular. I think it's Turner's shirt or something.

I was on a life concert only couple times. But on of the best was Boney-M, who is remembering or at least knows them? They started performing again and making it great, whole city was dancing and singing old disco hits!

I'm not really a Deafheaven fan but they are playing here next month and I think I'll go see them. They are playing at one of my favorite venues here (and there will be other shows going on at the same time anyways) but I can see them being a pretty good live show.

5. Duke Robilard/John Hammond Jr/Buddy Guy at Buddy Guys Legends (the old place on MLK drive, not the new one). I met Dave Murray from Iron Maiden and had a small chat with him at the bar at this show.

4. Ozzfest '98. Motorhead opened, and it set the vibe for the entire day. Outstanding performances by Tool, Sevendust, Soulfly, Pantera, Coal Chamber, and I got to see Snot for the first and last time, and of course the original line-up for Sabbath.

3. Ozzfest '99. More goodness. Primus with Buckethead, Godsmack, Slayer, SOAD, and wiki lists Slipknot as second stage but they were main. We had a private box overlooking the main stage, and I looked down to see a band wearing masks and orange jump suits, and one of the dudes was banging on a beer keg. Pretty cool for the time it took place.

2. Jeff Beck/Johnny Lang (2002?). I had 30th row center, right in front of the sound board. I highly recommend this spot for any venue, but this show was just magical. I swear there was a glow coming off of Jeff. It was one of those shows that just burns a hole in your soul.

1. Jeff Beck/Stevie Ray Vaughn at the UIC Pavilion (1989). We had nose bleed seats, since we were given the tickets by someone who couldn't go. I went for the Guitar Shop tunes, but holy crap if Stevie didn't bring the house down with this number:
