I think David Lee Roth is actually a pretty good example of what this thread is about—doesn't have very good or strong or versatile voice but still managed to pack a lot of fun and energy into it.

I think Kurt was a good singer. im probably very biased on this one cause i grew up idolizing the guy but given how unprofessional he was towards being a singer i think he did a pretty good job, by unprofessional i mean that he smoked and did other things that harmed his voice.

He could sound very sweet and sensitive in songs like Dumb or scream like a maniac in songs like Milk it, he also had a bit of a southern twang in his voice i really like. I kinda get why he would be mentioned here but idk, i think he had a good singing voice.

I can see people who don't consider his singing annoying feeling that way. I'm not one of those people.

I'd put Kurt in too because he's really expressive and makes his limited voices sound very versatile.

Kurts problem was he was an untrained singer. I don't think he had any training. I think if he had been trained he'd been a lot better.

My point exactly. David is a terrible singer, he has a working range of 1 and a half octaves (on a good day) and hits more bad notes than a mother***** but he made Van Halen the ultimate party rock band, he had style and balls, being so cheesy and over the top he still manged to pull it all together.
