I can bet this track played everywhere in 1992.

If I wanted to reveal the year I was born, I would link to a Radiohead song.
EDIT: To make mordwyr's post make sense, I also said something about guessing my birth year. My above post narrows it down quite a bit. |
1848?
That second verse... EDIT: Dammit, Technic! You edited your post so mine don't make no sense no mo! |
Fixed.

I felt uneasy about posting in this thread because it means I can no longer pass myself off as a teenager. Also the music of my birth year wasn't that great. Still, because ribbons has come clean and owned up to her age, I guess I'll do the same.
I was born in the year that saw the transition of the singles format from 78 r.p.m. to 45 r.p.m, when romantic crooners ruled the charts. The most interesting songs I could find were both exceptions to the predominant style, and both made it to the Number One slot: Winifred Atwell in the UK, Bill Haley in the USA :- ..... |
Lisnaholic, I've been receiving solicitations from AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) in the mail lately.
Anyway, before I careen further toward the golden years, just want to say really enjoyed Winifred Atwell's ragtime piano playing (never heard of Winifred before) and of course "Shake, Rattle & Roll" is a classic. Your birth year really is tough to select from, for the reasons you outlined. They must have announced that Lisnaholic was born and all else became filler. :) But here's pretty good single from that year, which I don't think reached your shore and pram ;) 'til a couple of years later. |
^ HaHa! Thank you for a post that has cheered me up a lot and will help me to face old age with dignity!

Lisnaholic, I laughed so hard at your last punchline about Venus In Furs and nightmares that an office mate stopped to ask what was so funny. Rest assured I did not wear "shiny, shiny, shiny boot"-ies of leather in my pram. At least not on very hot days. ;)
No matter what bureaucratic lines we cross, you will always be ageless and the world's most elegant teenager to me. |
In 1992 The UEFA Champions League Anthem was written by English composer Tony Britten.

A few favorites from the year I was born:
(had to use a later live version--the studio version isn't on youtube) |
No.1 the day I was born, 13.10.64
https://youtu.be/lnRS3A_iIYg |
1995- The Roots "Do You Want More?!!!??!" my favorite is Distortion to Static. The back beat is hot, the verses use rhythmic variations to keep the words flowing. There are many breaks in the beat to let the emcees go off.
|
Green Day - Redundant from the Nimrod album but I was never a huge Green Day fan. There were too many cool new bands starting up at the time - like Sum 41.

Hi buddy! I found one more great song from 92. |
1987
The Cure - Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me
Echo and the Bunnymen's self titled The Smiths - Strangeways Here We Come R.E.M - Document I'm sure I'm forgetting some other important ones... And The Smiths broke up the year I was born |

Right? That Springsteen album is a classic.

I hope each and every Bruce Springsteen fan gets sodomized with a nail-spiked bat. No offense.
