Well it's not likely the big 4's we vote for will be official, so what's wrong with doing an unofficial one for the fun of it?

Nothing at all.

I care...I care quite a bit love, I just think that the ideas of Chomsky and Klein would reduce the life expectancy of the people they're advocating for, not increase it. Particularly here in North America.

Ps, I don't own a flatscreen tv. :p:

Again, discussions on the big 4 of those genres have been had here already. It's not particularly interesting to me and likely most of us at this point

I'm cool with it.

If people want a more restrictive criteria, I'll try to come up with one, but it'll be pretty hard. I mean, if no subgenres are allowed, we can't include art punk, skate punk, synthpunk... so we couldn't include Wire, Devo, Television, and Clash because they generally qualify as "art punk." Plus, I don't want to drawe a line between hardcore and punk for that same reason.

I would not advise that. If we're gonna have more restrictive criteria it should be more democratic, cause whenever you try to define genres you get ten tons of **** for it. Just sayin'.

He wouldn't get any it if he wasn't disseminating misinformation.

edit: Most of those bands are not exclusively "Art Punk" so I don't see the problem he's complaining about. First time I seen The Clash described as "Art Punk." He left out the Talking Heads, which were actually from an art school.

I think we should do surgenres. Plus I don't see any reason why, say a band like black flag, can't be considered big four in hardcore punk as well as punk rock.

TechnicLePanther 07-11-2016 07:13 PM

I say we count out Dead Kennedys and go with Stooges, Clash, Pistols, and Ramones.

DeadChannel 07-11-2016 09:32 PM

Dead Kennedys are the best band on that list, though.
