MB Musician Insecurities.

What is it about your own music that you are the most insecure about?

I want to know so I can exploit it.

For me it's nothing, I'm perfect.

Nah, but for real for me it's Mixing and Mastering even though my M/M is far better than most people on here, (cue the winy tantrum about how they do it that way on purpose) I'm still insecure about it because it's not to the level of perfect where I want it.

Also my voice. A lot of times I'm insecure about my voice. When I nail it I ****ing nail it hard and deep and I make the track orgasm but there are tons of times where my own voice makes my cringe. Maybe it's a self awareness I'll never get over. I think a big problem is slurring words with my mumble mouth. Sometimes I sound like a bumbling retard when I talk, just depends on my mood. The more confident I am the less like a bumbling retard I sound.

So I shared mine, share yours.

Edit: Does this belong here or in the music sharing writing area?

Frownland 11-25-2016 10:21 PM

Also my mixing. Apart from that, generally perfect.

Insecurities are for pussies.... and I'm a pussy. My vocals are a huge insecurity when it comes to my music.

What about them? I thought your vocals were good on I song I heard, it's just that they were turned down really really low.

Yeah, they got turned down low cause my vocals suck. I sound like a mentally retarded monkey.

For me I know practicing over and over really helps. Maybe it's just a thing where we just hate hearing our own voices.

I just can't stand my voice. I've literally been told my whole life that I can't sing and will never be able too by everyone I've ever held close. This site is the first time I've ever been told my vocals sound good.

grindy 11-25-2016 11:31 PM

I suck at mixing.

My instrumental technique is rudimentary to non-existent, which is why I often use a lot of loops, effects and splicing

I never heard you try to sing.

I am Baritone so if I try to go high I'll sound terrible I have to croon

But sometimes terrible is good whatever

Can you get that really low bassy voice that makes women orgasm off the vibrations?

Yello is the ****. I could see a noise rock/cyberpunk version of Oh Yeah being really badass too.

Zhanteimi 11-26-2016 03:19 AM

I don't play guitar as well as I wish.

YorkeDaddy 11-26-2016 07:35 AM

Definitely my singing from my cloudcover days

From DS not much besides worrying that I'll get my point across properly. Sometimes people dont pick up on the themes without lyrics

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 11-26-2016 10:00 AM

i'm pretty insecure about the fact that it doesn't exist because i can't play any instruments. on the bright side though i'm still better than Frownland.

Frownland 11-26-2016 10:07 AM

Jesus the Carpenter - Oblique Perspective

I'm insecure about how amazing this song is.

Black Francis 11-26-2016 11:44 AM

I've been posting some covers to my soundcloud and I'd say my biggest insecurity is the sound quality is sh*t. I'm using my cellphone to record my stuff and haven't found a decent music program for it.

Have you tried Mixpad? I like to use it on my tablet. Works pretty well.

No but I'll give it a try. Aside from a simple recording app I've been using im using a program called Walk band and another one called music maker and they both kinda suck.

I know both of them. They both suck ass. Mixpad is light-years ahead of them.

Black Francis 11-26-2016 12:12 PM

I just downloaded mix pad.

Hopefully this one works and I can share whtvr I make on soundcloud

un-smooth and abrupt sounding transitions in my samples

You can fix that with a little reverb.

Mix lesson 101 almost always put a reverb on everything but don't put too much. You want to put it at a level where you can just barely even hear it.

I'm putting my music on hiatus for an undetermined time. Not really feeling it anymore.

And when you make your glorious return all the ideas you've internalized will come out of the floodgates to form your magnum opus.

:(

I liked some of your music

Don't forget that I still wish I could make an album as cohesive and polished as Kinda Noise was

Frownland 11-29-2016 11:34 AM

Ki, I think your music would benefit from sitting on your releases instead of getting excited and dropping everything you make.

Frownland 11-29-2016 11:36 AM

Hey man, with my advice you could exclusively release masterpieces like I do now.

Key 11-29-2016 11:36 AM

Honestly, I just don't have the time. That, and I moved my piano somewhere else and I can't be arsed to plug it back in.

It's almost like you're not trying to be funny. It's a conflicting emotion that only you can accomplish.

How'd you make the songs on Technically Noise? Guide me through your process.
