Good thing Batlord has the definition of a joke handily in a text file on his desktop.

But we're all the same colour, and that's what matters.

It is originally for members of the European Broadcasting Union, so that would rule out the US. Then again, Australia are now competing, so who knows?

Stephen Colbert made a good attempt at an American entry on his show last year. Coulda been a winner! :)

I'm sure Trump will demand the US participate (and win) or he'll nuke Europe out of existence.

Not quite true.

Not just anyone can compete. For example, the US would have to be "invited" as a guest participant - they can't just decide themselves and then rock up.

It's for members of the EBU - also Australia, conveniently an "associate" member.
