Most Euphoric Music?

'Cause this place is quite a diverse bunch, I'll take a nudge.
For you, what is the most emotionally euphoric/ecstatic music for you?

I'm fascinated in how often there are those albums/songs and pieces/works, that are so overwhelming it feels like your whole life being thrown in front of you (and all that revelationary stuff) or like your body is floating in a cloud etc

:pimp:

Maybe this doesn't exactly fit under euphoric but I can't think of a more elated song.

Be'Lakor - Remnants

Basically the whole part from 1:53 to 3:47 is goosebumps territory for me. I have been known to rewind and listen to it again before finishing the song. Every time, basically.

If you can listen to this without feeling good then you're probably a terrorist.

Allahu akbar, I guess.

I didn't even like Lil Yachty the first time I listened to him. At all. Give it time. Then come back. You might be surprised. He's kind of a masterful pop songwriter, even if his lyrics are hilariously terrible.

I can enjoy this one. A bit heavy on the auto-tune, but it still works.

Saying that Lil Yachty is "heavy on the autotune" is missing the point. He knows he's got little without the autotune. He's not even a rapper. He's a pop artist without a voice, but who can use autotune to make up the difference. To listen to Lil Yachty you have to learn to hear what might be appealing about a voice with large amounts of autotune.

That song is phat though.

And that's challenging to me, since I've always hated auto-tune. For so long, it was almost purely used to fix bad singing, so trying to appreciate it as an expressive tool is hard for me now.

Basically, if someone's voice sounds like it's being filtered through glass then you should probably stop worrying about whether or not they can actually sing. At that point autotune is just a sonic effect and should be judged on how well it accentuates the music.

I was a big fan of Ozzy's solo material back in the day. He can't sing for ****, but sometimes you can get by on the character of a voice instead. I'm a big Megadeth fan and we all know how good of a singer Mustaine is. I think I'm basically advocating for letting your voice be what it is and not try and cover it up. I'm not sure it would work for Yachty, but maybe? At least it wouldn't sound like what everyone else is doing.

That's pointless though. Music isn't about bragging rights. If Artist A can sing well but Artist B can't, but Artist B using autotune sounds better than Artist A, then Artist A's singing ability is irrelevant.

And letting your voice "speak" for you is nonsense if your voice doesn't have the sound you're looking for while autotune does. Just do whatever makes the sound you're looking for. And I'm certain Lil Yachty wants the sound autotune gives him.

We don't disagree on that. I think the only important thing is how it sounds and feels in the end.

Yeah I get it, I'm just not really so into the way it sounds.

I hated that **** too for a long time. Maybe you'll get over it and be able to rock out to the Lil Boat Mixtape as hard as I do. You won't be less happy.

We'll see. I never say never.
It's not like I expected to like Lady Gaga and Kylie Minogue as much as I do either.

If you wanna test your autotune tolerance with an album that's worthwhile then Ke$ha's Warrior is basically the last word.

What makes autotune hard for me to digest is the lack of subtlety in its intervals. It's unnatural without appeal.

Pet_Sounds 07-13-2017 02:24 PM

This song makes me feel ready for anything.

I'd never thought I'd want to describe the colour green as "searing". That album cover is hideous beyond belief.
The music is a bit on the more inoffensive side of things. I listened to maybe a 3rd of the album and I thought a couple songs were sort of allright, but one of them drove me nuts with the chorus. I think my biggest gripe with this is actually that I wish the backing music had just a little bit more layering and melody to it.

I'm totolly on board with that one. It's the only Toto song I know, admittedly.

It's not about subtlety. I'm calling a raincheck on this convo till I'm sober.

And pretty much any half-decent rendition of Tam Lin will instantly send me into a reverie.

And also Mount Eerie's In The Rain which isn't on youtube.

This track always brings me to an emotional climax when it hits its peak after the third verse. Then what comes after.

You trippin' balls. This just puts you over the edge. Total and complete euphoria.

You a wrong-un if you don't feel complete listening to this.
