Cage, obviously.

The video for the Disturbed version cracks me up. It's a ridiculous video and a ridiculous cover.
Haven't heard most of the other versions. Because of this, I'm not voting.
The original is by far the best of the ones I have heard so far.

Nevermore also did a cover of the song.
It didn't really work.

Simon & Garfunkel: Timeless classic.

Disturbed: I imagine Smash Mouth playing this at a funeral for Mickey Mouse.

Leonard Cohen: More of a spoken word version. Gives it a nice poetic touch with Leonard's dark voice.

John Cage: Very nice african dream pop version. I like the steel drums and slide whistles. The sampling of Tim Allen grunts in place of the guitar was a wise choice.

James Blake: He has a nice voice for it and I like the choice of sparse electronic backing music. However, I imagine this playing in a church full of senile sleeping grandmothers.

Natalie Prass: Strange direction to take this song. I like the music for what it is, but it doesn't match the lyricism or tone of the original. Kinda like Coil covering "Don't Worry, Be Happy" to the tune of "Cold Cell."

In the end, I have to pick the original. I want to see either Swans or Jandek cover it in a manner as bleak and dead as possible.
