Did You Know?

Here's the place to post really obscure trivia about your favorite bands/musicians. I'm talking about stuff that probably most of the people here aren't aware of. Me first.

A few months before trying to assassinate then president Gerald Ford, Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme tried getting face to face with Jimmy Page - very public leader of the biggest band on the planet in 1975.

Manson wanted Fromme to kill someone whose death would shake the masses badly.

Did you know Frank Zappa named his son Dweezil after his wife's pinky toe?
Wiki says Ahmet Emuukha Rodan was named after Ahmet Ertegun. I don't know how reliable wiki is. I heard he was named after Frank and his wife's imaginary invisible servant "Ahmet," and Rhodan after Godzilla's nemesis.

Tony Iommi was almost the guitarist for Jethro Tull, which would have meant no Black Sabbath.

Ian Anderson auditioned Tony Iommi but ended up hiring Martin Barre after Mick Abrahams left Tull.

*edit: TI played with Tull for a couple weeks before IA hired MB

DEVO's Mark Mothersbaugh on his synth collection

Only 4 and a half minutes long and interesting even if you aren't even into DEVO.

Knew something like that, thought he was with them for a short while then returned to Sabbath.

My aunt dated him. Meant to be a bit of a knob.

The origin for the name Captain Beefheart? It was Don's nickname for his dick.

The magic band origin, probably.
