Post Singing in a Talent Show

Hey guys, this is Jen. I'm new to this forum, but I'm only gonna use it because I need some advice. I'm in 8th grade, and every year around Christmas time my school has a talent show. I haven't done the talent show yet, but I know that I can sing decently because I have taken voice lessons and I'm in the choir class. I love to sing and I do it all the time. But since I haven't done the talent show, I'd like to do something magnificent and breath-taking. I love being on stage, so I know it's something I can do. Honestly I can say that I'm more of a ballad person. I have an alto/messo soprano pitched voice and I don't want to do a ballad during the talent show. What I'd like to do is to sing an upbeat song that takes everyone's breath-away, and still sound very good. I want to do an old song from like the 70s or 80s that everyone knows...that sounds good when it's being sung from a girl. And I want people to remember it. Any ideas? Thanks so much!

"R.E.S.P.E.C.T." - Aretha Franklin.
You need a real good, soul voice for that song, otherwise it'll sound crappy.
